No, I wouldn't.

The numbers however don't lie. About 90% of the people that get Covid will experience mild to moderate symptoms. About 7.5 % will experience severe symptoms and may have long lasting effects and about 2.5% will die.

Having said that however I look at it this way If you were given a jar of 100 jelly beans was was told that 90 of them were fine, seven of them would make you very sick and three of them would kill you, would you eat any of the jelly beans?

A poster think that his immunity comes from traveling to third world countries, are not those people getting as sick or worse from virus then we are. I spent 40 years living mostly in third world countries and wouldn’t presume any immunity to COVID more then anyone else ,I will say that having had many tropical, diseases , l seem to have no lasting affects from them. At 82 I’m on no meds but I attribute that to good genes

Daneenmarie - My deepest condolences on your loss. Not being able to be by the side of a loved one in hospital is unimaginably painful.

I consider myself healthy because I play at least 3 softball games every week, play or practice golf in some fashion every day, work out at MVP routinely along with a walking routine, and results of blood work every three months. (All numbers are consistently good) I have had these "diseases" for many years without any problems at all so I guess the medication is working. Being spiritually healthy is much more important to me and I work on that constantly. I call someone with no disease probably healthy...Thank you for the well wishes

In just the last week I have learned of three deaths; one a teacher and former student of mine; one a former college classmate and friendly competitor when we both coached high school basketball in the same conference; and another a long time family friend. I don’t know if my experience is common, but I am certain it is not unique. I am happy we are beginning the vaccine process, but until immunity is pretty universal, I implore everyone to be careful and vigilant. I do not want to add a TOTV friend to my list.
You may just keep in touch with more people. Far as covid 19 deaths it is a percentage.

Aside, a friend of mine told me he buys condolence cards by the box because at our age....... I asked him not to buy one for me I hope it will be old and yellowed before he will need it.

I find it amusing. My doctor has a form you fill out on every visit. Have you been to places where Covid is spreading. They mention New York. I find it amusing that they do not mention Florida.

The vaccine. There is no shortage of conflicting information. It seems that once you get the vaccine you will still be expected to wear the masks.

All we can do is the best you can. Aside, I do wear a mask. A real problem since it is a two week gestation period people can be guilty of murdering others and not even know it.

None.
Dear Toy
Thought you might be willing to hear some closer to home facts.

My brother in law died in Sept at 67 from covid. He was careful, he thought.
My grandson age 20 was in good shape, a high school football player. Covid gave him a stroke in June, now walking again but with a cane. Lives in Tex.
My neighbor and friend in TV died from Covid in August
Mother at 90 yrs old had Covid this summer, no serious problems, mostly like a cold. So no way to predict. She was fortunate.

Please do not play the statistic games and ignore the risk. The virus is real and has ability to kill or maim.

Hoping we can all get the vaccine soon

Merry Christmas

In statistics, that would be an 'N' of ONE - which is to say - meaningless! .....AND there are REAL sources of meaning through statistics on every TV news channel, newspaper, radio, and Google. MAYBE I need a visual to make myself clear ---- picture Superman standing on the Statue of Liberty yelling at ear-splitting volume, "Humans of the US of A, BEWARE the COVID-19 disease - it can KILL you, it is your KRYPTONITE" !!!!! Can everyone get the picture?

We have ZERO studies to know the short or long term effects from it and sure do not trust big pharm in any way just more dollars in their pockets. And no I don’t get the flu shot either. Remember this the virus has multiple strands (just like the flu) are you sure the vaccine covers all strain my doctor says No, so good luck to all who get the vaccine
Too much chaos and confusion to comment on.

Look at the top populous countries (except for China because we all know their numbers are a lie) in world and you will see we are right in line with them.
I am sorry, but just compare the US total deaths with Germany, Australia, and Japan. Even when you adjust for the US greater population - you see that they succeeded and we FAILED. The US graph of cases is the only one that is straight up recently - all other 1st world countries (even France) is headed downward. I mean, What do you expect to happen when a state like Florida, for example, has opened up everything. You can hear the music from the squares. People have reported in this forum about people there without masks and non-family-types being close together. Everything that I have stated is corroborated by nationwide and worldwide statistics - AND what can be seen subjectively, up close and personal, RIGHT here in Dizzy World for Adults.

There was a study done in the US and Israel. Of the people who die from COVID-19, 80% have a low vitamin D level in their bodies. It was found that is your vitamin D level is 50 in your body, then the odds are reduced by more than 50% from being hospitalized with COVID-19.

The doctor interviewed said that he prescribes 3,000 to 5,000 international units of vitamin D3, 50 milligrams of chelated zinc, and Vitamin C, to be taken daily to reduce the COVID-19 risk. I don’t know the vitamin C dosage.

This is a simple and inexpensive thing that can be done to reduce the COVID-19 risk. That US / Israel study doesn’t seem to be widely reported on the news. So, people could reduce their risk of COVID-19 if they started taking those inexpensive supplements, if they knew that information. Everyone I’ve told about that study, didn’t hear about it, and weren’t taking those supplements.
And the Native Americans in the wild West did a "ghost dance" to make themselves immune to the US Calvary's bullets. That worked out well for them. Maybe we should do a "ghost dance for CV" at the Squares? And invite scientists from Isreal!

I agree with ALL of that. IF we took it seriously we would close ALL the squares, churches, rec departments, doubles pickleball, doubles tennis, and softball events. We should choose life - and ask, "What would Jesus do"?

As for citing statistics on the mortality or chance of getting really sick, well, I prefer to remember the wise words of Dirty Harry "do you feel lucky?" We are so close to getting vaccines (which I will get as soon as I possibly can) I will continue doing the most I can to avoid getting sick. the fact that the Villages has done relatively well I feel is the result of the many, many people like me who have delayed gratification through this ordeal and followed the advice of the scientists and competent medical people with expertise in the field.
A good post with a good ending sentence. BUT, personally, I would NOT give KUDOS to the newspaper while STILL keeping open the Squares and everything else. It is a confused dichotomy, both locally and nationally. No wonder nothing good was accomplished compared to other 1st world nations!
