I have no idea how much their range costs to run, but I can't imagine it's that much when it's all mats and balls are dispensed by an unmanned machine.
Who fills the "unmanned" machine?
Who collects the balls used to fill the "unmanned" machine?
Who sells the tokens to put in the "unmanned" machine?
What is the cost of maintaining and eventually replacing the "unmanned" machine?
How much electricity is used by the "unmanned" machine
And lastly, and this is actually a biggie, how much does liability insurance for a range with "unmanned" machines cost?????

To be sure, an 11 has twice as much ink as a 1 & it's louder

And the people from the south will come north to play golf. Not happy about it but that is where the golf courses are!

It's essentially a vending machine. The same concept as the ones in TV except you can pay directly with a credit card without needing to go into the pro shop to get a token.

All of the costs you've mentioned above are required at any driving range whether it's unmanned or not.

The crowd that I golf with south of 44 for the most part will rarely bother booking a tee-off in the north section for Executives. It's just not worth the hassle and the 5 Executives south of 44 are all quite good and usually in decent condition.

Where do you hear that there will be 33-50% additional pros year round?

Why don’t you ask John Rohm, who just got over a half a billion dollars to play golf. Wondering how much scratch the best pickle ball players are raking in without counting their second jobs?

And it’s very safe to assume there will NEVER be anything close to the number of holes per rooftop.

My point exactly----the cost is about the same whether you get the balls from a machine or someone hands them to you.

True, the market is evolving, that trend is evident starting with the Brownwood region South of 466A.

I haven't done the math, but it seems the holes per rooftop below 44 is similar similar to the Brownwood region?

I didn’t hear that.
My point is, the driving ranges all serve teaching centers. For teaching pros to come work in TV, they want to be able to teach 12 months. The number of teaching pros here now, can do that, they teach all year.

The topic of this thread is there are not enough driving ranges.
IF TV build say twice as many driving ranges, would the teaching pros at those driving ranges be busy all year?
I do think the new range (and teaching center in Eastport) will be busy.

456 buckets per day, every day, regardless of weather?

I think that's a little optimistic, don't you?

If they averaged 100 buckets a day, I'd be shocked.

Jon Rahm is in the entertainment business, not the golf business & he didn't really get $600 million.

Machines are not really unmanned someone has to pick the balls clean them and then load the machine and if it gets stuck they have to come and fix it

Most basic driving ranges aren't really that expensive to run. There's owners in the US claiming they've run theirs for 100k/year or less.

Just makes me think they could've replaced a putt and play or an archery location with a driving range and you would end up with more happy people overall.
