From an unnamed news source. A grandmother allowed her 9 year old granddaughter to drive the golf cart with grandmother in the cart. An accident happened with the 9 year old driving. The cart rolled over and grandmother injured and rushed to the hospital.
Please everyone, don't let children drive golf carts! |

I was wondering how long it would take some “person” to rehash that tired expression.

On the other hand, if people didn’t keep rehashing it, it wouldn’t be a tired expression

Incident did not qualify for a Darwin Award thankfully. Anyhow, I think 14 is too young for drive a golf cart especially around here with street driving requured. 16 sounds better.

That child could have hit and injured or killed a pedestrian or bicyclist. When grandma recovers she should extremely thankful that no one except herself was hurt. She could very well have lost everything she owns or ever will own in a lawsuit. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
As far as the "Darwin Award" being rehashed to death, if people would stop competing for it, it wouldn't be used over and over again. |

I've seen children younger than that sitting on Grandpa's lap driving down the MMP's. We also have seen dogs on drivers laps with their paws on the wheel on our daily walks from Amelia to LSL every morning. I guess it is possible the dogs might be of legal driving age (in dog years of course).

Doesn't exactly match the "ticketed under 14" but the ticket, with conviction, might be considered the moving traffic conviction that makes them ineligible for a license until they are 18.

The statement, as I'm interpreting it, means that when the 9-year-old turns 16, she can get a learner's permit. And as long as she doesn't get any moving traffic convictions within the next twelve months, she can get her drivers license. |
