I tend to agree, this seems to be a bit overboard, except for around Christmas time.

There's a house on Stillwater Trail with similar lights. I posted about it on here, back around Valentines Day. It was lit up with "pink & purple". Tonight, it's just "washing" the side of the home, with a soft violet ... no flashing tonight.

The Villages seems to becoming a caricature of what a lot of outsiders claim The Villages really is. A lot of folks are determined to create the tackiest, carnival atmosphere possible. Some of the golf carts look like a 16 year old's idea of "cool" ... in the 60's. It's embarrassing. How can a grownup believe lining the eaves of their home with flashing LED lights, is appropriate, cool or attractive?

On our way home tonight we were just noticing and commenting on several houses like this in the newer southern section (then I read this, LOL). Yes, seems to be new trend now. Of course, they are inside and don’t have to look at it all the time like their neighbors do so if they like it why not on the inside of the house?

Nor did they take the time to read their Deed Restrictions, which in most cases, prohibit exterior modifications or alterations.

I certainly don’t care for these light shows but are they allowed per current CDD rules?

Maybe they should be regulated like holiday light’s outside; only allowed for a certain time around major holidays.

You might want to read deed restrictions also. Under the eves of your dwelling doesn’t violate deed restrictions. Actually met the owner of Never hang Lights Again, at Lowes, while waiting in massive return line.

I had to ask what was the company. His initial reason starting the company was adding permanent lights for Holiday’s. His dad fell of a ladder putting up Christmas lights, and his company was born. Safer than ladder for older residents. Then switch to a soft glow other times of the year, or turning off completely. Does paperwork for ARC approval. Most of the ad sponsor electrical companies that advertise on here install the lights also

I did offer promotion idea to him. While Not a fan, of the lights but….. at 2am flashing lights on a house for AED cowboys and rescue unit would be an added benefit, to facilitate a faster conversion.

They are available in different length strings. Each light is controllable for color and brightness.
Since they mount under the eaves, they are 100% allowed. Might be a gray area for needing ARC approval, because there are no restrictions for that location.

The LED lights are awful and especially on the front of your house. They are super bright, distracting and cheapens the neighborhood. These really need to be outlawed!!

A neighbor down the street installed these. They so reminded me of Las Vegas that I almost knocked on the door to ask where the blackjack tables were. Thankfully, he hardly ever turns them on anymore.

Not a gray area. According to ARC, they are allowed. No ARC permit required.

I thought I read in the ARC manual for District 15 that “liquid lights” were prohibited. I didn’t understand what was meant by “liquid lights,” but I assumed any ‘chasing’ light would fall into the category. That manual is currently not available on-line; perhaps there will be an update soon that better addresses these LED lights.
