John W .. That's a great suggestion.

If I were in TV I'd take some water and food and place it in the area the dog has been seen. Maybe someone could do that tomorrow?

I'm thousands of miles away and I can't stop thinking about this lost dog. Poor thing must be thirsty and hungry.

A lost little dog, is like a lost little child, alone and hungry they don't know who to trust.

But, I have one horrible thought. This dog is wearing a harness so must be a house pet, the Animal Control don't seem to have had a report from the owner.

So I am concerned that something may have happened to the owner.
I hope the dog has a tag that can trace it to an owner and that the owner is ok.

Suprised no one has mentioned the radio station. They will announce it. Hate to think of it going to the county. My husband & I Found some beautiful Golden pups on Rainey Trail a few years back. Tried to help but we know what became of them. I know there is not a choice for them so overloaded. This was 2007 and still bothers me when I hear of missing Pups

Yep, they certainly will take care of him . After 10 days he will be euthanized. I believe marion County has a no-kill facility.

Better that than the Gator that lurks around Pelican gets him!

I am sorry to read the nasty turn this thread has taken. While most of us are already concerned about the lost dog, why do others feell the need to air spiteful comments which do nothing but add more distress to an already sorry situation.

The dog saw them, seemed curious, but as they got nearer to the dog the lost dog bounded back into the brush and they didn't see the dog anymore. The ambassador was told where my husband saw the dog and he will inform Animal Control when they come later this evening. Hopefully, the stray dog will be found before any harm comes to him.
Surfergirlov,
My husband and I were on the first hole of Pelican when your husband came up with your cute little doggie. It was a great idea, to bad it did not work. We kept looking for the lost dog but he must have gone deep in the brush. We left the course after it closed, but I did not see any activity. I hope they can catch him with food and a trap.

Don't worry, the ambassador's will see to that. They carry water and most carry dog treats. At least the ones on the golf course behind our house.

On those two courses; Pelican and Heron there is a lot of protected area where you aren't supposed to go.

I thank you Sandra for drawing attention to this and hope that SOMEONE will find the little guy and reunite him/her with the owner.

Default Dog on Pelican

My husband and I went to Pelican this morning about 6:30 and asked the starters and nobody seemed to know anything about the dog. We walked the first two tee boxes and didn't see anything and talked to a man walking a dog and he had not seen the dog. We looked around and called out hoping that we would see him but saw nothing. I hope that someone finds this little dog.

Please keep us informed about this pooch. I tried to rescue a loose dog in our neighborhood a year ago and he almost took a bite out of me when I tried to pick him up. It turned out he was just a dog that likes to wander away and explore anytime he can get away from his owners. The dog on Pelican does not sound like that one though but appears to be a dog that is very afraid of people probably because something bad happened recently.

Wonder if anybody reading this lives on Pelican Path or knows someone who does? It would help to rally the community. The area where the dog has been hanging out is partly woods and lots of homes.
