Imagine being a waiter/waitress and having a boss like that.

It's one of the biggest reasons TV diners should be tipping heavily when a manager does not address a problem presented (and the server acts like a responsible grownup, industrious worker).

Our waiter was great, the food was good and the ladies room was clean.

I hope he does see this thread. But remember, his "side" isn't necessarily
The truth. A manager NEVER responds to a customer under any circumstances
The way he did.

I Get the feeling O'Sheas isn't a favorite place. It was our first time there

Outrageous reaction from the Manager.

He should have been EMBARRASSED that a customer told
him his restaurant bathroom was disgusting,

Oh so sorry - that would be a reaction from an intelligent,
DECENT, person that actually cares!!

foot in the place......

As I am the manager that this gentleman talked to, I find it laughable to say that he kindly or politely in anyway. I am sure that no one was in the restroom when he was calling me a F(*&^^( A**)^$#% or a P#$@* of S%^(). After directing him to leave he made threats and began berating me and my establishment to my guests. His friends who have been here many times, insisted to pay his tab as, " He gets like that sometimes," even though I offered to take care of it. While this website has it's pluses, it's minuses are that people can hide behind their screen name and make false, derogatory or outright mean claims without anyone to correct them. It's the like the one commercial," It's on the internet. It must be true." I used to monitor this site daily to gauge our success and failures, but realized when some regulars were told they couldn't post anymore things about us because they were positive and they must work for us. So in turn I will leave you and this site. Come on in talk to me or ask any of the thousands of Northerners that know me how I am. I may get grumpy from the time to time from the 80-100+ hours I work in trying to make this place better, but I'm a pretty good guy. I truly cared of the opinions on this site and used them as teaching tools to help. I now realize there are people who just want everyone to fail or want to hurt people and their livelihoods. I'm sure it's not most, but you are your weakest link.

I thought the comments were BS. I have been there a few times with no issues. Good service and good food.

Hopefully all issues will be resolved...including the bathroom issue.

Mike, thank you for taking time to tell your side of the story. There are always two sides and as they say, "the truth often falls in the middle".

The majority of responders, including the OP have been more than satisfied with your establishment in the past and I think this thread doesn't really reflect on the experience of most of your patrons.

I would urge the OP to talk to you and clear the air, as should have been done after her husband's ejection.

I have never eaten at O'shea's but I will give you a try when we get down again after Christmas.

Some people will just complain, complain, and complain until there are no restaurants within 50 miles of The Villages. Enjoy your drive.

When I read the OP, my first thought was, we don't have all the information. Very rarely would one be kicked out of a restaurant for "politely" mentioning to the manager that the restroom is dirty.

I am glad the manager finally came on with his side of the story so that we can know that the original story was probably not all true facts, and that the real situation is somewhere in the middle.

I wonder what lead up to him calling you an "A**hole"? Did he just walk out of the restroom and say "Hey, a**hole, your restroom is dirty," or what?

We still don't know the real story, in my opinion. but I discount the OP's account somewhat.

We need to keep in mind that the conversation reported in the first post is NOT first hand info...The OP stated it was her husband who had the "conversation" with the manager, not her...

If the restroom was really dirty, O'Shea's needs to keep it clean, so these type of confrontations wouldn't happen.

Mike, It is likely there have been posts questioning the validity of your "white knights", but I assure you that the administration of this site did not tell them to quit posting. It would behoove you to count to 10 and continue monitoring this site. There are over 35,000 members and each member has at least 10 close friends.

Also the old adage is usually valid: where there is smoke, there is fire. Keep an open mind. For every person who vocalizes their complaint, there are easily ten people who don't want the confrontation. They just vote with their feet.

I have to say, I have known Mike for many years and really do consider him one of the good guys ! He is one of the hardest workers I have ever met. He really cares about his work and work ethics and would bend over backwards to make sure his guests have a great experience , good service and quality
food !!.
Please go into O'Sheas and ask for Mike and meet him. You will like him ! They have really good food, it's a great place and they really do care.

Well said.

What customer, going out for dinner and some relaxation with friends, wants to spend their time asking to see a manager, and then waiting for the manager to appear, to report the obvious.....that the bathroom is filthy and disgusting and probably a reflection of the cleanliness of the kitchen, refrigerators, freezers, salad prep area, etc. etc.

It's a manager's job to make sure the place is clean and sparkling so that the customer can spend their time enjoying themselves. That's why it's called "Hospitality Management".

If I've spent 20 minutes upset because of inattention to cleanliness, service or food, I'm sure not going to spend 20 minutes more waiting for a manager who has eyes to see filth him/herself, and does not care enough to clean it or have it cleaned. We'll go elsewhere.
