It’s only another 50 or so miles. Why not. Not only the gas carts could make it, but so could the new electric carts.

People were saying the same thing waaay back in September of 2020...

The growth of the Villages should offer many options for the future homebuyers who seek an easy retirement life!

Sounds like you like to move around… if you finally found your Happy place, that’s good for you
Some people like mountains, some prefer lowlands… some like peace & quiet and some prefer noise
I’m looking for a dust free home..

When I bought my home nearly two years ago, the influx to TV had begun and home prices were rising by the day. I purposely bought in the north area where amenities have already been established and there wasn’t a bond on the house. I don’t find it too crowded, but I hope they build more grocery stores, hospitals, medical offices, restaurants, etc. in the newer parts of TV soon. I think half of the traffic we get is from those in new areas coming up here to shop, go to the doctor/dentist, etc.

In 15 years there will be a new Villages neighborhood on the moon. It might be called Luney Land.

Did you hear about The Villages couple that decided to go back to NYC because they felt that it was too CROWDED here? And no subways.

There will probably be a monorail from Lake Sumter to Orlando airport.

What they REALLY need in the near future is charging stations for E-vehicles and E-carts.

The Villages is what it is. Homogeneous houses arranged in "villages" that often bear only a superficial resemblance to one another. But those VILLAGES aren't growing. New Villages are added from time to time but The Villages grows OUT, not up. The Village where I live will undoubtedly look and feel the same in 2033 as it does in 2023.

There are valid concerns however. One, as mentioned by another poster, is infrastructure. That can be developed, and I don't think we have any reason to doubt that it will be. The other concern though is labor. The jobs in The Villages are service jobs. Housing is being developed to address this at least in part, but, as stated on the Indeed website, "Average The Villages hourly pay ranges from approximately $10.00 per hour for Host/Hostess to $27.39 per hour for Videographer. The average The Villages salary ranges from approximately $23,701 per year for Truck Driver to $356,000 per year for Endocrinologist." Unless your job is in the Videographer - Endocrinologist range you're going to have a hard time housing and feeding a family on what you can earn here in TV. Comparing like jobs in surrounding areas populations similar in size to that of TV--well, TV very definitely comes off second best, often by very sizeable margins.

How to address that, other than by businesses substantially increasing what they're paying? Unfortunately, I don't think there is any other way. It seems to be a choice between higher prices, or poor (or no) service.
A.I. and ROBOTICS are going to eliminate the NEED for most low-paying jobs, so that will NOT be a problem soon enough. The problem is that the up to 30% of unemployment may require EXTENSIVE social changes.......NEVER an easy situation.

As far as taking orange groves and other open land for the almighty buck, what is the purpose of orange groves but to make money? Beside that, if you got in small plane and flew over Florida, or any other state for that matter, you'd probably be shocked at how much undeveloped land exists. A relatively small percentage of the land is covered by development.
What is the purpose of Orange Groves? Well, they produce food and oxygen that roads and houses do NOT. The LACK of plants worldwide (especially in the Amazon rain forest, but also local areas like our TV Land bubble) is the reason that each year for the last 8 years - the Earth is getting warmer. And CO2 is forming an upper atmosphere blanket producing that HEAT, aka GLOBAL WARMING.
.............Other than that, I suppose that the Orange Groves are just USELESS !!!!!!

I look forward to the future growth - just think, if we grow really big “they” will have to give us a Costco! 😂
