Sorry if this has been covered. I just saw a video showing the enormous schools being built- then the narrator said 12,500 family homes will be built. This raised some questions for me:
1) How many people are employed by TV, and can all afford a home- requiring 12,500 homes? 2) 12,500 homes have the potential to house +- 25,000 children and teens. Will our cart and walking paths be shared by skateboarders and groups of congregating teens? 3) Will our Family Pools be inundated with 12,500 families and children? 4) When we're dancing in the squares will we have teens with green hair and pierced faces mocking us? (Yes. I intentionally added the stereotypes to the last question) Should I assume policies will be in place to keep our retirement community a mostly senior environment?

My understanding is that Middleton will include family housing and age restricted housing. Those that don't want to be around kids, just won't purchase a house there. It looks awesome.

The town squares, on the other hand, are open to the public. They are not amenities, we don't pay a fee to use them. They're paid for in part by the business owners, and in part by the tourism tax. There are also some Villagers who have green hair and piercings on their faces. They "shouldn't" be using the MMPs at all but there's really no way to stop them if their neighborhood has golf-cart access to the same stores that Villagers have access to. Skateboarding is not permitted on the MMPs or walking paths at all, so that shouldn't be a problem and if it becomes one, you call the police. They're trespassing and there are laws to handle that. |

Wow, how do you really feel about others? The current family housing areas are self contained and not connected for golf cart use etc. Of course everyone is already welcome to the town squares to dance etc.

We could build moats and stock alligators and parrona (sp) in them. That will keep them out of our playground.
As this place grows will need more and more people working here and taking care of us old folks. And if anyone has any questions I am being facetious. |

One of the things Covid took away was the homecoming and prom nights at Sumter Landing. Seeing all the young folks dressed up on their way to a big event taking pictures in front of the lake just made me smile. I suspect the younger families at the new square down south will be just as nice.

Nope. You assume because I, and thousands of others moved here to be in and over 55 community, and am eager to keep it that way that I'm motivated by hate. I'm motivated by wanting to live in an over 55 community and keep it that way. It is one of the main reasons I, and thousands of others bought here.
My questions were- questions. Questions based on what I see teenagers doing in my hometown in Mass. I assume these behaviors are happening in countless other communities around the country. Question my signature is you wish, but I believe part of "Life in the Bubble" will be much less desirable if when we look around it looks like the home towns we came here to escape. BTW: My signature is aimed at people in this forum who call other users Trolls, and announce that questions are "useless" and accuse other members of lacking intelligence. Page one of The Forum tells us people who do that will be banned but it is clear it is tolerated every day.

Where did the 12,500 family units come from? That's the size of CDD15 (55+ communities), the Middleton A CDD is only about 3000 family homes.

Age restricted is on the east side and family community on the west side of Middleton.
