Jealousy and envy take many forms, I've come too far and lived too long to care what a bunch of brainless uninformed twits think.

And the crazy thing is - there are even people who have been in EACH category of the above, at some point in their lives - people who mock the Villages for some things, AND question the validity of other things, AND defended blindly for other things. |

Young people mock the old because the old are mindless and vapid (aka, old fashion). It has always been this way but now the young have the internet

And old people mock the young because the young are spoiled brats who won't ever amount to anything (aka failures-in-the-making). It has always been this way, but grandparents refuse to accept the fact that they failed to teach their own kids how to be parents. And they'll refuse to accept it even if they see a video of the proof, on the internet.

As for your 55+ community, it is actually 80% of a 55+ community and they only real thing in writing is it is a 19+ year old community as anyone 19 or older can live here. Best if you had checked on things before moving here. |

If you spent anytime in Brownwood, then you know younger people come to enjoy the music, and the square, it’s open to the public. If that makes you uncomfortable, than you have a choice not to meander down to Middleton when it’s completed. I myself hope there is an open house when the schools in Middleton are finished. I am in great wonder of how lucky those who make our life better ( you know those who build our houses, sell you your home, keep our lawns, make and serve our food) because without the families who choose to work here, you would not have a retirement community. How lucky the families will be to attend the new state of the art schools, that they can access in the neighborhood in the old fashion walk to school area. Parents will no longer having to drive them for miles, and wait 1/2 hour in line to drop/pickup, off a busy 4 lane road. Have you ever met any of the charter school students? I have, at fundraising and school events, and am happy to say they have been well mannered, and truly happy to be there. Yes some may not live up to your expectations, but maybe you wouldn’t be their favorite either. Watching the new video, and things to come that will enhance our retirement years, is so exciting for us. But we have been coming to TV since 07 and we’re always in awe every year we came back to TV. We are building in Richmond, so Middleton will still be a hike by cart, but we will chose to go to Middleton and Eastport. OP you have the options of the farther you travel north the less you will encounter your less than desirable description of young people. Just a note that new hospital UF is building will bring Physicians, medical staff, and yes, their families. Our Granddaughter already has made up her mind this is where she wants to practice. Why, because she thinks you gain experience by treating elderly with kindness and most of all respect. Even if didn’t like the color of her hair, or her earrings, she wouldn’t hold it against you.

I can’t even read this pessimistic negative “the sky is falling” post from you this morning.. we live in America the last time I checked.. the land of the free.. pretty sure you were a teen/child once.. how does everyone here forget that if the villages didn’t grow,we ourselves would not be here.. were the villages just suppose to halt once we moved in?., and being made fun of?.. where does that even come from?.. just chill!!! OMG!!..

It’s tolerated because of this thing we have called free speech…let’s preserve it. Along with the right of one to live where they wish. Did you know that not everyone who buys here is 55+. Go check it out.

My family had a saying. “Don’t borrow trouble.” The sky is not falling. So relax and enjoy your retirement. Get it that pickle ball in. After all who knows how long any of us have left.

The advertising gave the PERCEPTION of a gated community. So there was no reason to question if it really was or not, when we got here for the first time and saw that yes indeedie - there's the gate for "residents" and there's the one for "visitors." We didn't look at the red button, because we didn't have to. We had an actual person lifting the gate for us. We probably didn't realize it was /not/ an actual gated community until our third visit. That's when we took the golf cart to an area that had a gate but no booth for someone to stand in and let you through. That was when we noticed the red button. |
