Gracie is right in that it's much easier to blame the Developer for "whatever" than it will be to blame your neighbors for the decisions made when the Developer "builds out" and leaves the residents in charge of many things in TV. The inmates running the asylum will not be fun!

Therefore, I'm not in any hurry for The Developer to layoff hundreds of workers and move on to other places and things.

Start with multi modal path striping, independent studies to do more striping, covering swimming pool (s), legal fees for viability studies concerning pet projects and district commissioners crusades.

So, you want the villages to be a sea of houses? There is a need for open space for people to relax in. Not everyone has Golf Course, Preserve, or other open space behind them.

It is bad enough making a left turn out onto 466 now, just think how much worse it will be with 2500 more houses. This will become an urban area, not a peaceful retirement community, might be time to move.

Default More Homes to be built

Gracie, I hardly ever post on here, but always see your comments and the others. You are so on board and I so agree with you. My Husband and I do not regret coming here, do not think the Morse Family is a greedy bunch as so many do - they have made a wonderful community and we have want we want. All those who do not like so much should get off their podiums of discontent and leave The Villages! It is not a prison, and no one is forced to come here, or stay. Some things have changed in the 10 years we have been here, some we like, some not so crazy about, but can anyone tell us that where they grew up or came from has stayed just the way you liked it? Okay, now I feel better also!

I'm all for green space, too.

But looking at things in context gives a more informed perspective.......

The Morses are still WORKING.

I for one want to keep them here and involved or we will soon have more of the inmates running the asylum. What makes ME want to bite is all the nickel and dime spending on "improvements" by the CDD elected folks north of 466 and folks wanting to add government restrictions to golf carts and change this and that. Build a covered pool, Etc. Etcl. Etc. Sooner or later the goose that laid the golden egg is gonna be deader than a duck due to folks who know NOTHING about running a city this size..........running a city this size.

And soon someone will weigh in about Freedom and Progress. I say you knew this was a planned development and not a voting city when you moved here.

There. I feel better.

I consider the Polo Club a huge asset to The Villages brand. Considering it a waste of real estate is short sighted.uploadfromtaptalk1434557241001-jpg

Should the day come the developer stops developing our way of life and maybe sell their commercial holdings and move on, the Villages will drastically change for the worse, not the better. Our districts will most likely become independent homeowners associations with the money spending, regulating types pushing their way into power and making money and lifestyle decisions that will adversely affect us all one way or another. That will be a disaster. I have seen this governing first hand and want no part of it. Just my opinion...

It was about nine years ago when I first drove by the polo fields and I said to my wife"someday this will be developed". soooooooo it comes as no surprise to me that a rumor such as the OP suggested comes to light.

Realistically, have you ever lived in a 110,000 community with more green space than we have already in The Villages? This is a beautiful community and developing the polo fields (if that happens) will not make our lifestyle any different.

But how much of this open space is open to non-golfers?

I don't think the actual concept for it is "it's a waste of real estate", but rather that there is seemingly endless demand by buyers to "live like millionaires" as the Morse family does....in that particular section of TV.

They're not so dumb as to risk building like that without buyers chomping at the bit to buy at that level.

I agree with you, Gracie. What the heck do some of you whiners want, everything to be the way it was 20 years ago with one course and a bunch of double-wides? Didn't you whiners of "greedy, rich, when's enough, enough, etc", check out the developers of TV before you moved here? Did any of you think, "Well, I'm not going to move to The Villages because the Morse family is rich"? Probably not, I would suspect. Get over it, OR MOVE OUT and go back to your life of staring at 4 walls. Myself, I'd much prefer living in a development where the owners are flush with money rather than a development on the verge of bankruptcy.

Not so sure non-golfers expect to spend time IN green space. There's a national forest just up the road from TV, and I think non-golfer villagers probably don't spend a whole lot of time IN it.

I thought the main purposes of "green space" were to protect the eco-system flora and fauna, and to preserve aesthetic natural beauty of the surroundings.
The Ocala National Forest ls the second largest nationally protected forest in the U.S. State of Florida. It covers 607 square miles (1,570 km2) of Central Florida.

I would much rather live under a benevolent dictatorship than the endless parade of politicians in clown cars begging for a vote.
