We moved here 15 years ago. We knew then how big it was going to get. We also knew there wasn't a lot of green space.
That's why we all have choices.
I want the Morse family to continue running the Villages and building. It's an awesome place and I wouldn't live anywhere else.

I'm tired of hearing about an enclosed pool and a covered pool. People that want that should build a pool in their yard and cover it.

Yes, I agree ! I just love it here! I give a big thank you Harold and the Morse family for creating such an awesome place for us to spend our golden years !

We are retiring baby boomers with no pensions. We have made the right decisions financially with investments and savings which allow us to retire. I believe the next generations will do the same.

There is no question that Florida's overall population will continue to rise with the flood of baby boomers retiring every day.

In the past the growth was willy nilly and junk was built next door to nice.

I love the way The Villages does it and maintains it too.

Much rather have them build than be close to poorly managed developments where crime could fester.

Exactly! The writing on the wall about "pensions" being something to not count on was written back in the 1970's and 1980s. We've never had a "pension" and our grown kids never heard the word in our house growing up. But they did hear, "Self Retirement Funds and Savings" and "Don't depend on anybody else to secure your future except you and your hard work and savings." They get it.

Others their age (twenties and thirties) will have to learn the hard way, starting with student loan payments of $1100/month or more, plus rent over $1,000 and a car payment yada yada yada....on a $40,000 (maybe) income.

Our kids also have heard from us "Too many people are retiring too early in TV, and they are a P.I.A. because of it. Keep working at least some, and stay productive instead of being a whining P.I.A."

Not all of the residents have the ability like we do to have their own outdoor pool. There are people as was mentioned with skin cancer and also light skin. It would not have to cost much to put a tent over a pool.

Not everyone is a golfer.

After build out, there is still work to maintain the commercial properties and sell existing houses by the villages sales office and local Realtors. Ads would continue.

Reading posts, I think it is not early retirees who complain, but the older ones who complain about golf going up, Satelite, cable TV going up, etc.
