I agree with you.

Years ago, I part-timed as a projectionist while stationed at Cherry Point in the Marines.

The manager there said they made NO money on the movie ticket sales (barely any at the most) after the cost of paying to show the film, and they made all their profit on snack sales. That made sense to me and explains why the snack prices are so high.

However, it doesn't matter, the point is the movie theaters will only remain open if they can find a price point that makes a profit.

I guess will could vote in welfare for Movie Theaters to compensate theaters when they price it where people want it priced and lose money - LOL!

You should not assume everyone that lives here is retired. I still work full-time because I love what I do...and I am not alone I have learned over time...

I think the theater is crowded because two movies fit almost perfectly into the Villages demographic

I am not sure you could make movies that fit the demo more than Top Gun Maverick or Downton Abby.

This weekend was a good example...lines were clear out the door into Lazy Mac's multiple times while individuals waited for the next showing of the movie to begin seating. Purchasing tickets was a long process as well due to the crowds. Only one person was working the concession stand and that was also swamped. With so many other screens sitting idle in the other two movie houses it would seem like one of them could be utilized to handle this onslaught of interest.

I know help is hard to find but The Villages seems to find the people when they need them. It was just poor use of the facilities we have in this community in my opinion.

The management at Old Mill Playhouse did their best to keep things organized so I compliment them on their handling of a stressful situation, but the developer can do better than this.
Were we all not sold on the "Lifestyle" of TV and shown 3 town squares that included within it a lifestyle of ease to go to the movies -by golf cart no less. IMO we have been had. Covid closed them. Now that has passed and we got what? Is there a petition circulating yet, class action suit yet? Really... bait n switches don't bode well with most people...

Its b s... the theaters used to have plenty of Villagers earning a little extra income working in them. No excuses are acceptable to me for the theaters to close and certainly not torn down. T V will be just another mass housing complex if the convenience of things for over 55 's to do within a golf cart ride goes away. Wait in line for the bus to take the old people to Leesburg...

Funny thing----like most people I also got sold on the "lifestyle". I signed and received a lot of paperwork before and during closing, but I do not recall ever seeing a guarantee that there would be 3 movie theaters open in perpetuity regardless of pandemics, staffing and profitability. "Bait and switch"?--only if the developer was psychic. Class action lawsuit?--Only if one could find that guarantee in the closing documents. Meanwhile, there are multiple screens in LSL, and a very nice theater in Leesburg. Any other first world problems????

I'll sign a petition... I was sold on the cute Brownstone townsquare INCLUDING a theater. Not a closed covid cure facility that is no longer a covid facility that is now a fight for your life to get in "sort of" a movie-ish/live theatrical-ish kinda place that has high price tag (compared to the $8 movie) where you need to have a crystal ball and dial athon to go to... I was sold on "Grandma n grandpa you can take the kids to see Benji" via golf cart!!

Sorry, but things change. And sorry to be the messenger, but they don't need an "excuse" or any one individual's approval to do anything. Are any of those comments based on years and years of experience living in TV?????
