My wife and I walked miles on MMP's for many years without problem, as we looked out for our own safety.
What others did or didn't do was their problem. Nowhere is 100% safe, but using just a bit of common sense, keeps the survival odds in your favor. Look after No.1 and admire the carnage as you stroll by! |

Things always get snarky on TOTV when it rains.

Maybe cause when somebody not watching where they’re going and almost gets hit they have to post golf carts out of control on MMP. It’s two way street and always will be

I do it that way. Big deal if I have to walk on the grass sometimes as the carts pass. The grass does NOT bite.

My car can go well over 100 mph... Yet, I rarely go over 75-80... Something must be wrong with my car...

Walkers/joggers/runners should walk facing traffic. If you can't pass them (safely) without giving 3 or more feet clearance, then you should WAIT. Sorry hot cart Joe.
Bicycles have the right to the entire lane - Florida LAW - same applies for in the streets. Many (including me) move to the right to aid passing carts and faster vehicles. *If I don't move to the right, you should not be passing because there is another vehicle or limited visibility ahead.* When passing, you should completely move to the left lane giving the bike or pedestrian maximum safety while passing - just like you'd do on HIGHWAY 42 when passing another car. Be courteous and cautious (safe). Give others as much room as possible. When the lanes split (single file around vegetation and such), you should not pass. Reason: there is not 3-feet of clearance as required by FLORIDA LAW. Sure, the pedestrian can courteously step off the pavement. A bicycle usually cannot for safety and stability reasons. Please Share Courteously I bet Tiger Woods doesn't drive like a p-off maniac when going to golf. I laugh as I think how it screws-up your game. |

This subject has gone for 5 pages. So, that shows reasonable interest. Some subjects end up only 1 or 2 pages long. Plus this subject involves SAFETY. New residents might want the opinions of veteran residents on the safety of the MMPs. Many people responding thought that it was a SINCERE question.
