Something really needs to be done to help but apparently it takes an act of congress to get it addressed. Pinellas is blind almost from one direction due to a curve and the intersection is also close to the mail stop with heavy traffic.. Anyone else notice the problems there?
Very bad intersection I have noticed! Lots of construction traffic and cars coming from Morse. Many blind spots with large trucks.

Connie,

Glad all turned out well. I just don't get it. I have been here a few months and I am amazed at how people drive golf carts . No concern about anything around them . Same with cars. I have seen people pull out of parking spots and not look, not yeild in round a bouts , turn left in a right turn lane , and there is another thread that states that 2 separate people ran red lights in front of them within and hour.

People get killed in Golf Carts in TV !!!!!

Will you be at Chrispers tomorrow ?

Unhappy Tragic

It is tragic that we have 50,000+ golf carts in The Villages with little or no law enforcement recognition of the risks and need for monitoring and enforcing speed laws, children driving, reckless driving, passing laws, and many so ons. It is outrages what we see in the seasons, (e.g. Dec -Apl) and no or little enforcement by the 3 Counties, (e.g. Marion, Sumpter and Lake). We drive our cart almost every day and there is not one day when we don't see a number of violations. I guess "Outrages" is a good term for what is going on..

PennBF, please do not blame law enforcement. They do their best. Each county, Sumter, Lake and Marion have a huge area to patrol and work. They do more than work traffic. When they do give tickets for traffic violations, illegal golf carts, unlicensed LSV's, open container, etc this boards blows up with people complaining. Law enforcement goes to club meeting, golf cart safety clinics and much more to try and educate safety. Bottom line is people need to be courteous and drive safe. It would be nice if we lived in a perfect world but we don't.

Default Along the Same Lines

It's not surprising that they didn't see the red car. Cars and carts alike (as well as bicycles) seem unable to see red stop signs or red lights.

Has anyone but me noticed that our beautiful landscaping here very often impedes the line of sight in many places? It's great when first planted, but then it grows up...big! I live in Summerhill and it's a challenge to get out of our postal station/pool area because of the landscaping and the fact that the road also has a big curve. The problem exists whether you are in a car or cart.

The intersection at the corner of Woodridge and CR 103 heading toward Walmart is really bad, too. Not only is there a slight hill on 103, but the plants and the big Steeplechase sign make it impossible to see until you pull somewhat out into the intersection. I don't want to be like the little old lady that told the responding officer to her accident as to what happened, "By the time I got out far enough to see if something was coming, it had!"

I came close to getting T-boned in my car on CR101 turning left one rainy, foggy evening when a car came flying out of the darkness in a dark car with no lights! Please remember to turn your lights on when you get in, expecially at night.

100% correct. Police could fix the problems in 2 weeks by writing some tickets. Everyone would slow down and be carefull.

I would love to ask the Powers That Be to have the landscaping cut back around the road exiting CVS onto CR 101. It's such a busy area with many plaza entrances and exits.

I wonder who the contact person is?
