He could be color blind. I worry all the time driving in the Villages of inattentive drivers of all kinds. Very sorry this happened.

Don't laugh as I recollect we had a gentlemen fro Oxford who was driving his golf cart on our cart paths because his license was taken away due to his inability to see well and predictably hit someone

From what I have seen and heard from alot of people who rent or own in The Villages is......Most people see the Golf Cart as a toy , not a real vehicle...

Not surprising. People drive those carts like they're kids with toys.

It's scarey to think about...but there are many vision-impaired, can't drive cars anymore so they drive their carts!!! Then there are the folks who are on all kinds of medication that should be riding in a cab rather than transporting themselves!!! I hope your car wasn't badly damaged....also glad noone was hurt! Regardless if that road is dangerous or not...THAT MAN should have been driving defensively!!!!

File a claim with your auto company. You will have to pay the collision deductible but your auto company will subrogate against the at fault party and try and collect your deductible. Your husband did call and have a police report done, right?

Florida Law does not require anyone to have golf cart insurance but an operator is responsible for any injuries or damage due to their negligence.

Just thankful no one was hurt.

On the other side of the car/cart issue, I saw a pick-up slow but not stop for a right turn and almost wipe out a golf cart in front of him. The cart driver had to surve way to his left to avoid getting mashed. After the pick-up driver was stopped, along with the cart driver, he had his hands up off of the steering wheel in what I interpreted as a sign accepting total blame. I was approaching from the opposite way but had enough time to slam on my brakes to avoid the cart. Again, just not paying attention driving on "auto pilot". So glad there were no injuries.

Of course he did deal with the auto insurance company. They can deal with the driver, not us, unless things don't go well, but really, I am sure everything will be ok.

Nobody hurt!

Default No Surprise To Me Jul 17, 2012

Hit & Run Corvette Vs Golf Cart Morse Blvd

4:40 PM on Morse near San Marino close to the Mailbox Center, my wife was south bound in a gray Corvette black top convertible when a green golf cart made an abrupt left turn hitting the right front wheel and proceeded to slide down the passenger side of the car. Her first reaction was that the gentleman was injured. She pulled off the side of the road and the guy made a U turn and headed off in the other direction. He was wearing a straw hat with a black band. The golf cart was green. It has to have some serious front end damage. A witness tried to find him but without success. We have a witness statement but would like for anyone with information to contact me.

The green golf cart driver may have injuries. Although Corvettes are fiberglass, it still takes quite a bit of force to punch holes in the quarter panel, tear a mirror off, and shove the door back so it won't open.

The car been repaired and looks great. Final bill was $7600. Still not a clue about the HIT & RUN DRIVER.

We witnessed this accident....we were in our car coming opposite direction. Saw the whole thing...we were shocked the guy was pulling out from the stop and just drove right into the side of your car. I PM you with my email.

You are right in there was nothing your husband could do to prevent the accident. Glad to know it was not serious. There are some people sharing the roads who are in a word, irresponsible when it comes to driving and sharing the roadways. I don't have to give examples, we all see them every day. Continue to be defensive while driving, always look both ways to ensure it is clear before entering into an intersection or cross way. Yield to pedestrians, and always be courteous to others. We share the roads with golf carts so we have to be even more careful.
