Welcome to Snowbird Season!
Being respectful, I'd like a little more info from the author. What time of day was this? Was it dark? Did you have reflective/bright colored clothing on? Were you walking on the side of the path against traffic? Did you have earbuds in or could you hear oncoming traffic?
I ask all these questions because although I'm a careful driver, IMHO, I travel to courses in the early morning when it's still dark. You would not believe the number of walkers that are clothed in dark colors, no lights or reflective material, and sometimes walk with the flow of traffic instead of against it. I just cannot understand why they wouldn't make themselves visible and be aware of their surroundings. I mean, a golf cart isn't going to win against an auto, and a walker isn't going to win against a golf cart. Please be careful out there people.
Staying safe and being respectful goes both ways...

Hopefully sarcasm?
Either way, too many don’t realize the M in MMP means “multi” use path.

Welcome to Snowbird Season!

Sorry for your experience. It appears that some of us are just plain stupid.

Reason why I walk facing the upcoming traffic. Still, twice I found myself having to jump off the multi path because of an upcoming driver driving too closed for comfort. Once I heard the passenger yelling at the driver that he just almost ran over a pedestrian.

Easy. Check the legs. White legs and tanned arms are a sure sign of "snowbird".

As regular cart drivers on that same path we’re amazed at how many walkers we encounter walking with traffic, not against. It’s many, and it’s stupid and dangerous.

Same. I assume either the person can't see me or is actively trying to hit me. 99%+ of villagers are awesome but gotta keep watch for that 1%.

Getting hit in the left lane by a passing cart is a new one....another thing to remember.

Oh and as said above...don't be a darkwad! I see them in the evenings...but they're not easy to pick out!

Urban Dictionary: Darkwad

I walk that route a lot, from the vicinity of Savannah Center to the Publix off Buenos Aires. And yes...I've seen some pretty off-the-wall driving. There's an old guy on a bike whose eyes are glued to his cell phone mounted on his handlebars: I give him a lot of room as he doesn't seem to be watching for walkers. Also, there's a guy with a blind cane attached to the back of his cart who drives about 5 mph...haven't seen him in awhile.

The secret as a walker is to walk against traffic and carry a 3 iron. I've noticed cart drivers give a little more space than usual.....

It is easy, the whiners who think they do not wrong and everything is the fault of someone else are the frogs.

. I did laugh. I pictured an old man shaking a tire iron and shouting at clouds.

Have you noticed recently a golf cart had hit the side rail and the two small trees near the entrance to the tunnel by Freedom Point? They are lucky they didn't wipe out enough fencing to go over the side and down.
