I got a price from All Seasons & T&D on gunite, started looking at fiberglass.

they appear to cost about 60% less.

two questions

Anyone have one and pros or cons.

Who's sell's them with 50 miles or so.

I'm no expert on pools so I won't give any opinions. However I did find a website that you might find useful and if you Google Fiberglass pools vs Concrete pools, you'll also find a wealth of information you can explore. BTW, while exploring I did find a statement that fiberglass is more expensive than concrete, dependant on the quality of the fiberglass. So I'd be careful of quality when the cost is 60% less. Ok, after doing my due diligence, there are San Juan pools and Sun pools here nearby in FL that are actually manufactures.

The pools in general that can fit on most lots are $8-12K, that less than half the cost of T&D or All Island.

I toured the Sun pools plant in Brooksville.

I'll be filing my plans with the building dept & ARC soon.

Do you have to file the plans personally or does the pool company file the plans? It's my understanding if a congrete pool is installed, the pool company does it all including filing the plans.

well in this case my architect and engineer are drafting the plans, they will include the engineering plans from Sun pools.

I'll file them because I'm doing the work with my own subs

We installed a fiberglass pool at our home in NJ and love it! Very easy to maintain and complete cost was very reasonable. Amazing to watch the install - it's like a "pool in a day"!

I think all you need to do is feels the shotcrete surface to know things can stick, also funny a white glass pool is blue with sunlight.

I'm getting white or very light blue.

Spa Kingdom on 441 also installs fiberglass pools. They came to my home and we are waiting for an estimate on several options, basic and upgrades.

I've been in the pool industry most of my adult life. Retired from it 7 years ago. I think fiberglass is an excellent way to go here in TV as long as you don't have any risk of an elevated water table. If the dirt that is excavated to dig the hole for the pool is a sandy composition it can be used to backfill the overdig as well. If it is very high in clay, rock or loaming organic material then all spoils will have to be hauled out and sand put back in as a base as wellas backfill. That procedure can get a little pricey. I believe most soil here in TV to depth you would be digging would be a perfect sandy/clay composition. Proper grading under the pool is paramount also proper compaction of backfill. In regards to San Juan, I was a dealer for many years, I finally dropped them because in my opinion they were the "Walmart" of pool companies. They became unethical with there dealers and would not offer any service after the product was sold. They only cared about volume and not quality or customer service. Maybe they have changed so I would just suggest you do your research. P.S. if you ever have to drain your pool take great care. Essentially it is like a boat and will pop out of the ground from a relatively small amount of hydrostatic pressure

So far the Sun Pool's fiberglass is doing fine, very easy to clean the smooth surface.

What DGx2 said is spot on.

These pools go in in a week 10days cost 7-12,000 plus install & birdcage, can be done for $15,000.

You also have to use a sequestrate agent to make sure ant metals that might get in the pool via the water source, certain chemical feeders and the occasional overspray of fertilizer by landscapers. Keep the metals out and the Ph correct and that pool will last for decades.
