I am a former dog and cat owner and will probably remain former. All I ask of pet owners is to keep them off my grass, quiet, and under control. I am approaching eight years here and enjoy visiting the squares. I have never been troubled by pets there. ( Can't say the same for humans). Most of the smaller ones are carried and the bigger ones have been kept under control. There are other issues of more importance that need to be controlled as evidenced by prior posts on TOTV. |

We don't always agree...

A few years back we lived in a town on the Conn shore with a beautiful town recreation facility on LI Sound. There are tennis courts, baseball, soccer and football fields, bocce, beach volleyball, a boat launch, etc etc. There is also a large number of picnic tables with cast iron barbecue grills. Many of us would make a Friday night of it. Of course, like all such places, teenagers thouhgt it might be a good place to have a few beers or such. So, someone decided we need a new law prohibiting alcohol to stop the teenage drinking. What stupidity! All it did was stop adults from drinking - there is already a law in Conn (as elsewhere) that prohibits alcohol consumption under age 21. If someone's dog is an issue - address the issue. Don't punish those of us who have well behaved pets. I can't tell you of the number of grandbabies there who want to pet my little guy. They smile that baby smile and dissolve into peals of laughter. Don't use a sledgehammer to drive a half-inch nail.
