Default New Publix

Been out of town for a while. Can some one PM me with the status of the new Publix SS at Brownwood. Any expected opening dates? Other stores going in?

Thanks

Drove by yesterday, and saw that the exterior block work and steel roof framing is done, interior slabs on grade are being poured, exterior lightweight steel work is underway. If I had to guess, they should open sometime this summer.

yes there is a tunnel from the multi-modal path just north of Brownwood. They were getting ready to pave the tunnel entrance yesterday.

I heard Publix was opening in October, but haven't heard about any other stores that will be going in there.

How is the Winn Dixie store at Pinellas Center doing? Not a big fan of Winn Dixie but it is the closest for us.

Winn Dixie is now open! I find the variety of items limited and only go there to pick up a few things. On the plus side, Publix at Colony Plaza is good to shop at now. With the snowbirds gone you can actually find a place to park and move your cart down the isle! Yippee!!

It's a nice place. I hope it does well. Easy parking and wider aisles than Publix Colony. When the new Publix opens, there will be good choices for us down around 466A and I for one will never go back to Publix Colony due to the cramped aisles and zoo of a parking lot. That'll be one more parking space for everyone else!

I agree that entire plaza is a zoo!

It would free up a lot of parking if The Villages Golf Store would move from Colony to another location.

When there are special activities taking place at Brownwood, the golf cart traffic is worse than the car traffic. Only two tunnels under 466A. One thru a golf course and the other thru A very busy Colony area.

With the opening of the new Publix at Brownwood, and other stores, I don't see the golf cart traffic getting any better. No alternatives except to drive your car----or not go!

I think traffic would still cluster around Publix. It makes me nervous to back out of a parking space around Publix. You have to be able to see in all directions at once and over the top of the cars next to you to avoid hitting someone--either auto traffic or foot traffic.

I was initially disappointed in the new Winn Dixie ar Pinellas Plaza but there have been obvious changes lately - an expansion of italian imports, a great stuffed chicken breast in the prepared foods section. Best of all, I recently saved $.30/ gallon on gas thru their rewards system useable at ant Shell station.

We have always like Winn Dixie meats. The Publix at Colony Plaza was busy from day one. This plaza was a bit "under planned" IMHO. The Developer does most things right but Occasionaly his planners "screw up"! That said, I'm still a fan!

Like that great philosopher Justjim once said, "show me a person who never makes a mistake and I will show you someone who never does anything.".
