You were correct. I was given misinformation by the Customer Service rep I talked to. It also took the lady from thevillages.net about an hour to find out how it really worked and get back to me.

OK, this may be deemed as a "dumb" question, But....in today's (Sat) paper, it states there are two ID cards. One will be green and that signifies a Villages property owner, the other is blue (renewable every 3 years) signifies a legal villages resident. What is the difference? I know one is the owner, but what is a legal resident? A renter?
Thanks

I am pretty sure that is a a legal resident is someone living in the house that is not on the deed - ie a relative over 19 that is living in the residence. But like Bogie Shooter said - call the customer service center 352-753-4508 and if you get an answer, please post it here so we all know.

Thanks.

Get ready for a major undertaking if you have someone living with you and not on deed.
They have to have a utility in their name. ie cable, phone, elec or gas. Florida ID with address and bank acct with address. They do not care if are homesteaded in FL and other person is homesteaded in their vacation home in another state. Also if you are un- married and living together ( even if for years) too bad. Almost an invasion of privacy.
Waste of money or maybe the developer has an ID buisness.

For anyone who has been through the ID Renewal process...

Is there any complication if you have your house titled in a Revocable Living Trust with you as the trustee? Technically the house is not titled in your name but you are essentially still the owner.

Sam&Rog ... in the 'old' system, they asked for 3 forms of proof of FL/Villages residency to issue a resident ID to someone not on the title/deed. Voter ID card, drivers license, checking account, credit card statement, etc. They did not REQUIRE the person to have any of the local utilities in their name although those are acceptable forms of proof. Hopefully, this hasn't changed and the other aforementioned 'proofs' are sufficient.

I'm sure there are a lot of old, still valid IDs floating around being used by persons who are not currently residing in the Villages. Most of us have been through ID re-issuances with our work, communities, etc in the past. This process cleans the slate and is another measure to ensure the amenities and resident privileges are not being abused.

Default There is no issue of ownership with a revocable trust.

Did you have the trust when you got your first ID? Even if you had the trust set up after arriving in TV it is not will not be an issue for the purposes of ownership i.e. ID card.

The non consecutive numbering was introduced to minimize t time fraud. As in when one or the other is not golfing it is easy for the "cheater" to guess one number up or down.

Actually the entire process of getting a new ID is about as complicated as going to the post office and buying stamps. And when they tell you the new numbers will be in the golf system after midnight the day of getting the new card (that would be the next day)....it will be there...ours were with no hitches what so ever. I think TV group who put the program together has done a very good job. Now all they have to do is man the phones and handle the barrage of questions....over....and over.....and over again.

And those who don't like the new cards and planning to keep your old one, you can do so until 3/15/2011 when it automatically becomes null and void and deleted from the system.
