Default Seco Text….Rate Adjustment

Seco text message

Starting on May 1 2025, approval of total system increase of 9.17% in member rates.

Rate Adjustment for homes an average of 1,000kWh per month will equate to an increase of $10-$12.

Anyone else get this message @ 9:28am.

No mention if rates will have tiers or just flat as it has always been

Same here but I can’t find the new rate tariff.

My guess is
$1.15/day -> $1.30/day
and
11.21 cents/kwh -> 11.94 cents/kwh

Didn’t get a text message here in DeLuna, and it wasn’t mentioned in our paper bill that arrived this week. Had heard about it though in a DeLuna FB group.

It would be nice if SECO would implement tiered pricing to provide the opportunity to shift consumption to the off hours. Not too much you can do, but you can set your dishwasher to run at night, charge your electric golf cart at night, stagger some AC usage, etc.

It might be coming in the future with the new meters they installed.

RESIDENTIAL SERVICE – SCHEDULE RS - TOU
See page 14 of the current rate tariff. Says this is an optional rate so perhaps contact SECO directly to see if you can opt-in.

When we got our relatively new smart meter, the installer told us about this so contacted Seco.
If you allow them to adjust your thermostat a few degrees when they have heavy demand you get a small discount but also they took off $ 50 on the last bill to say thanks.

Will see if this will make our house uncomfortable in very warm weather so we do have the option to discontinue.

This is the RESIDENTIAL LOAD MANAGEMENT RIDER on page 17.

$50 for initial enrollment then $10 for the winter season and $20 for the summer season if you remain enrolled. It says adjustments may only occur between 6AM and 10PM and the maximum allowable hours per season is 80 hours. The rate tariff doesn't mention how many degrees they can adjust the thermostat.

How do they get access to your thermostat? Mine is not on the network so would they replace mine or would I be ineligible until I replaced it with a wifi-enabled version?

Or do they implement this like our MD service did? There they installed a radio-controlled switch on the power to our outside unit which allowed them to disconnect the power during periods of heavy loads. I don't recall ever noticing the temperature rise so I don't know if they ever utilized it but we still received the credit.
