As far as security is concerned, all they have to do is put up a sign that says trespassing on a construction site is a felony, and the bad guys will stay out.

In other words, you think that "bad guys" obey the rules???? If they did, they wouldn't be "bad guys", would they? (And yes, I understand that there was some sarcasm in your post, but who could resist?)

Surrounding views? That would be????

I am confused. Are you referring to the Free Tour Bus ride that The Villages Sales Department offers to anyone interested that provides them with some fun information and views of our home town and shows them new builds????

I have never heard anyone who didn't enjoy the tour bus and the very personable tour guides.

Pray tell us more.............Golf Cart Rental .......IN FENNEY? Who what when where why how little how much how big how so?
I visited Fenney & agree that the tour is interesting & the guides (including Jennifer Parr who was greeting visitors as they came off the shuttle ) were very pleasant on an extremely hot day. The larger furnished show houses were beautiful but I felt that the redesigned patio Villas ( starting at $130.000 for a one bed) were not to my taste. The ones that I looked at had double garages but had lost interior space. Such a shame : although I now live in a Cottage( which has a smaller garage than our Cabot Cove patio villa I would love to have another Cabot Cove with a rear Lanai. However I am sure the developers know what they are doing & the area will have beautiful views when it is completed. It is surrounded by lots of oaks & walking trails & will have, I thought ,2 Exec courses with carts to rent on the course. I will revisit when the resort pool area opens later in the year.

No but that's the only thing that would interest me in Fenney.

According to a March 5 article in the online news site, "Fenney Recreation Center, nestled against a nature preserve, with a bar, grill and resort beach pool is slated to be open in early June ..."

We took the Fenney tour from Brownwood yesterday. Excellent guide on the bus and we were very well treated upon arrival. The model homes were beautiful, of course. In the "Designer" model area they have a few new models that really do make great use of the space. There is a very serene feeling as you enter the area with very nice native trees providing lots of shade. They are saving all the trees practical and the work is progressing nicely on the first two executive courses. We were informed that there will be golf carts available to rent at the Fenney courses so we can go down there to play. (Also, more carts will be available here, North of 44, so the Fenney residents can come up here to play.) Our guide said they would rent for $3.00, which seems like a good deal considering the miles involved, even if there is a tunnel under 44 at some time.
I have a friend who has already purchased a lot there that is nicely situated overlooking water. Noticed several "sold" signs on vacant lots already.

The gate issue was not addressed, but something more secure than our existing "open gate" policy would certainly be an attraction for many. I did note that fact on my comment card that was distributed to solicit suggestions.

We were very impressed that natural gas is available throughout Fenney and efficient water heaters are located on outside walls to conserve interior space. I also liked that the Morse family had representation there to greet us. Our favorite Villages Real Estate person, Addam Roma was also a nice and informative surprise at one of the model homes. The golf cart rides provided to those who desired were thoughtful and the free water was most welcome, even if not ice cold.

True, the road out there passes by several run-down houses and some appeared vacant already with old trucks and farm implements parked in the yards. I suspect those places are owned by very happy people who feel like they have just "won the lottery" with this new development. I believe the "eyesores" along the road to the entrance are going to be gone as things progress with the development of Fenney.

There isn't an "open gate policy". The gates are there for traffic flow control. If they are county roads in Fenney, as are the roads in the rest of The Villages (except for some CYVs), you cannot deny access to people.

The golf cart rental is for the residents of the original section who want to play golf down there. Nine holes is $4.00.

I just returned from my Fenney bus trip and have included a few pictures that note things already mentioned and some not.

In the Designer homes that I saw, the corners are rounded and not the 90 degree angles found in older builds.

I noticed they have a gas line tied into the water heater. I wish we had gas south of 466A

Obviously, you missed my point. We do have an open gate policy because it doesn't keep anyone out. Call it what you will, but it's not secure! If the roads through Finney are not county roads, then possibly they could utilize true gates that are only for the residents and not just anybody who drives up like we have here now. I understand the reasoning about our "county roads", etc. but currently ours are open to everybody, and there is no security involved. Actual secure gates would be a very attractive feature.
