Heck Ford has been burning down Garages and catching vehicles on fire for years. Low bidder on them electrical switches.

I think that is what was meant?

Never thought about a electrical fire from a Charging Cart- NOT GOOD!
Also, when batteries are being charged, they emit hydrogen gas which is extremely flammable. (Ever heard of the Hindenberg?)

Get used to it. The Daily Sun is an advertising vehicle for the developer, not a newspaper.

You are absolutely correct. It's unbelievable that a city the size of The Villages does not have an unbiased reputable newspaper. Everything you hear is based on gossip and innuendo.

And this can occur as a result of a rumour, not necessarily first-hand knowledge. However most info posted does have some basis in fact. I hope.

The only reason I have mentioned the murder that happened about 5 years ago in The Villages is to remind people that The Villages is a very, very safe place to live - and that. personally, I feel it is foolish to go around The Villages carrying a loaded pistol. No one is going to attack you at the town squares or on the streets of The Villages.

it's actually like lightening...it never hits you until the bolt that fries you. You haven't been attacked until you are and that could be anywhere!

Sorry, I had nothing to do with the shooting being brought up over and over. I wouldn't bring it up (again) because it was reported in the newspaper. Case closed!

As far as this golf cart fire, I wasn't aware that we had TOTV back then. Otherwise, I would have brought it up sooner. Other than being somewhat curious, my main interest is public safety. We have a public safety department(PSD) here in The Villages, don't we? If a police report was filled out when the fire occured, the PSD should have known about it. Wouldn't the fire department or police department have reported it to the PSD? Or wouldn't the PSD have checked to see what reports had been filed during the previous day?

If something is a danger, like golf carts bursting into flames while being driven in TV, shouldn't it be something the PSD brings to the attention of Villagers? And, is it ever too late to warn Villagers of this danger? Suppose, without warning, it happens again to older (disabled?) people with grandchildren (on board) who are not so quick (or unable) to jump to safety? What will you say then? Will you say you're glad that no one bothered you by bringing it up as a warning?

Note: This post is for everyone who was bothered by the fact that I reported this event.

Didn't the police or fire department do an investigation into the cause of the fire? Why put the burden on me to figure out what behavior should be changed? If I venture a guess, you will then proceed to argue with me about it and it's all hypothetical. No thanks. If you want to argue with someone, call the PSD.

The behavior that should be changed is these incidents should be reported to the public when they happen by an unbiased reputable newspaper. Is it more important to save lives or make The Villages look good?
