The lack of self awareness in this post is astounding!

For that price tag, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the look of those dead fronds hanging on the bottoms of the palms. I keep telling myself that. Actually, I'm so used to that look, I don't even "see" them anymore. It is what it is.

And......like someone up-thread said, we should not be out and about during a storm when those fronds are going to be falling all over the place. What does concern me, however, are the fronds that fall from the palms at the squares onto the sidewalks. When I saw one huge frond on the sidewalk in front of one of the restaurants, I thought, someone would be really hurt if that fell on them as they were getting out of their car. OUCH!

Oh, no.....those quarterly plantings of the annual flowers is what I love about the beauty of the common areas of The Villages. I admired that look when we first arrived here for our lifestyle visit. Those plantings is one of the reasons that sold us on this community.

Thank you for your informative post. Now I understand why Sharon Morse preferred the beards to remain on those palms.

I remember a big thunderstorm a while back. My wife and I were driving somewhere after the storm and she commented about all of the dead fronds along the side of the road. I told her, not to worry, they'd be gone in a day or so...

The very next day we were on the same road. Not a single dead frond to be found...
When we first arrived in The Villages, we realized that if there were a piece of debris on Morse Blvd or Buena Vista Blvd. as we drove past; on our way home a couple hours later, that debris would be gone. The crews were that quick in keeping this place pristine. Today, they are not quite as fast as this community grows but it is still maintained beautifully.

Agree with you. On the other hand, these type of trees should not have been planted. Probably installed since they are cheap and ubiquitous. As an aside a lot of coconut palms in Florida and they are not native to Florida.

I’ve been here of and on for over 20 years , I’ve had 6 homes here ,I’ve never used the pools, have only been in rec centers to vote, I don’t golf and don’t have a golf cart ,I love this place because the villages takes so much care in the landscaping and keeping the place beautiful and the wonderful places to walk and ride my bike and the access I have to so many different businesses that make life enjoyable here

Oh, I have. On several occasions. It helps to have worked the various wildfires. It looks like a torch. The Santa Anas in OC around Pendleton are a b*tch!

Oh, and JMintzer, Pro Tip: Palm tress catch on fire the same way regardless of whether they are in Florida or California. It doesn't matter if YOU'VE never heard of it happening before. All things occurring in the world do not pass through you first.
