Some people are just born to belittle anyone in their way, in their view and in their judgment. This is the first time in my life that I have encountered this attitude so frequently. I have my views on the subject and they aren't nice. Even selfish people can behave well if their mother taught them manners.

My thought is there are always 2, That would be TWO sides to a story. I am sure if we were to here the other side, it would be reversed.
Similar to the elderly Lady at Walmart the other day. She was walking across the cross walk, and older gent in a Golf Cart almost ran her over, telling her to watch where she was walking. Another younger cat told him it was the cross walk and pedestrians have the right of way. He told the younger cat mind your own bushiness she can walk faster. Just to say,, you can see it all in the villages... One thing is for sure,,, if you are backing and hit someone or something, 99% it is going to be your responsibility. |

I, too, am amazed at how people walk in parking lots without looking around. They are the most dangerous places to walk, imho. people often are oblivious and especially in our community where reaction times can be diminished, they should be extra vigilant.

People in parking lots drive me crazy. They work or drive like they are the only one in the lot. What I really really hate is when you are in the process of backing out (far enough for people to know you are backing) and they just walk right behind you while you are moving! I don't know if they are stupid, blind or just don't give a damn! Of course if you hit them you are at fault. If the weather is nice I part way out in the lot.

Backing into parking places can be a good idea. But, unlike our home state, Ohio, Florida has license plates only on the back. The car we have in TV is white with Florida plates. We know our plate numbers, but.......
Mr. Boomer had backed into a parking spot at a concert one evening last week. There was a crowd. After the concert, as we walked to what we thought was our car and Mr. Boomer was trying to unlock the doors, some people behind us were calling out, "NO! NO!" But we didn't realize they were talking to us until we heard, "NOT YOUR CAR!" Fortunately, these were nice people and we all laughed about how we were trying to steal their car. Night time. Crowded parking lot. White car. Tan interior. Florida. Backed in so the plates did not show. First glance. What could possibly go wrong. ![]() We are not really car thieves. Yesterday, I was at Publix in Southern Trace. A large SUV was beginning to back out and there were people walking in back of it. A gentleman actually acted like a good guy and stopped the people walking and directed the SUV out of the parking space safely.

Not sure the "Darwinism" reference applies here in The Villages. Most of the dummies here are beyond the stage of passing on their genes. Unfortunately in many cases it has already occurred.

I think parking lots fall under the same rules as a roadway at least that is what one policeman told me. I see cars going the opposite sway on a one way aisle, cutting between cars so they don't have to go out the regular way and a whole lot more. In this case, usually pedestrians have the right of way but where there are clearly marked areas to cross and they pop out between parked cars at the last minute, I'm sure they are at least not faultless. If they shouted obscenities, it's just bad behavior. We all make mistakes but grown ups usually learn when to take responsibility for their oversights and not blame shift it to others. When I see otherwise, it's sometimes best to ignor it or you will go home upset while they happily go on their way.
