We have for years used a private come to the house person. That changed when the person (we have cameras) didn’t show for 2 days. Since we have a cat she has automatic food, water, and litter. But still needs wet food once a day.

The home person fell, while walking a dog. Was a single person, and took two days before finding someone to take over. While not something that may or may not happen, it is something we need to take into account on our pets care.

So even if our cat can be alone for couple of days, we will only consider using a business that I know multiple people will be available if there is an issue. So boarding is now how we want to make sure our pet will be safe

How well do those automatic food, water litter devices work?

Is it electric with battery backup or just gravity for food and water and electric for litter.

There must be a time limit how long the water and food can sit in the container.

Tell me I'm curious.

Water runs off battery or plug in we do both just in case power goes out, or battery dies. Will hold a gallon of water, and is continuously recycling water through a filter. We don’t change the water (distilled) until water runs down, so about 3 weeks. Has a little umbrella that water becomes a fountain, or a waterfall.

Dry food, battery and plug in. Has 4 times a day that food will come out. There is also an adjustment for how much food is distributed at each time. For us twice a day, less than 1/4 cup each time. You can also record a message “Leah your food is ready, come and eat”, she will wake up and go to her food bowl. Our small unit will hold about 2.5lbs of food

Wet food is in a timed 3 bowl dispenser, with frozen pack under food. Each bowl opens every 24 hours for wet food. All wet food is frozen when added. Between the frozen pack, and food, the 3 day is still cold when it opens

Auto Litter is different story, newer ones are not as good, and because she is only 4 pounds, sometimes the sensor doesn’t trigger, every time, so sitter can manually press the button. Scoops solid and clumping litter, It will hold about 10 days. When we go for 2-3 days, she is good on her own, she sleeps 20 hours a day.

Everything ordered from Amazon

We used Village Pet Spa on Rolling Acres Rd. Excellent experience - they housed our 11 yr old maltese in the "senior dog" section, a much quieter & calmer area than housing her with the young ones. They sent us daily pics for the first few days (12 total days of pet care) and then every other day. Pics were very reassuring that she was adjusting well & she was calm. Staff is perfectly conscientious with dietary needs & meds. A neighbor with a 13 yo westie who is nearly blind & mostly deaf recommended Village Pet Spa. We'll go back there for sure. And welcome to The Villages!
