Last year I saw a golf cart with two kids around 6 and 9 standing up in the back of the cart like two golf bags and had the bag straps around them so they "would be safe". Grams and Gramps were driving the cart at full speed.

Who says you have to drive With the foot to the floor. Slow down and keep your eyes on the road and there won't be not abrupt stops.

You might want to check to make sure the golf cart is insured for rental coverage or you could find yourself in a mess of trouble in the event of a mishap. Ask to see the policy.

I use a short leash and use the basket to loop the leash through. Then hook it to my dog's harness. He can move around a little but not enough to fall out of the cart. Over time he has learned his boundaries and usually just sits there enjoying the breeze.

I should note my dog weighs 16 pounds. For a heavier dog I would use a support post or a structural piece of the cart.

Darwin is being proven right every day--stupidity thins the herd. You would put your grandchild in your car without a child seat--its the law. Guess its ok to jeopardize junior or your puppy because it isn'r against the law. We all know how safer a 500lb golf car is.
Bet most of the people in the Villages never took courses in physics- a 20 lb object @ 20mph-weighs close to 400lbs. Who has the strength to prevent a 400lb object from flying out of their hands ?

We've always secured our dogs the same way as dbussone and kcrazorbk, with a harness.
If you're lucky, your dog has never jumped or fallen from your golfcart, but it could happen in an instant.
Please keep your dogs safe, they depend on us.

Actually, it still only weighs 20 lbs. But I get your point.
