I don't live down south. Was just wondering. Thanks.

He then goes on to challenge those dog owners to give an explanation, with a set of HIS rules to respond. I doubt the group that walks their dogs at the mailboxes would consider that a "civil question(s)" He then gave another set of HIS rules to exclude non-postal station dog walkers from replying. I was unaware that a poster could define the rules of TOTV. If he was truly looking to get a legitimate answer, there are much better ways to word the question. Perhaps "I notice some dog owners walk their dogs at the postal stations and some don't . Can people explain why they do or do not walk their dogs there?" I also think it was sort of naïve for "a long time Villager" to expect 50,000+ members of TOTV to abide by HIS rules.

But perhaps the reality of TOTV was too harsh for someone with 12 posts in 8 years, maybe I should have worded this better
Seems like the OP is entitled to make his own rules, and make them our rules. Wishful thinking on his part. Oh well, I don't have a dog in this fight, Oh, wait, what?. I don't even have a dog.

You are wrong.

Read the sign at your postal station. Dogs are banned.

Then the question of enforcement has to be asked.

Yeah, some people only follow rules if they are enforced by the authorities.

Other people adhere to posted rules because they believe it is the right thing to do in their communities.

First, I love dogs, have had many, man’s best friend
1. Why do you drive your car or cart up to the postal center to do their business and for no other purpose. I see the same people do this three or four times a day.
2. Why is it that you come to get your mail and get your dog out of your cart or car to do their business?
3. Why do you drive your cart and let the dog try to keep up with you along the street knowing you can not get out and pick up the business?
4. Why don’t you walk your dog to do their business in your own yard?

I am perfectly okay with people walking their dogs in the neighborhoods and am even acceptive if they have to do business ( you never know when nature is going to call) in my yard, as long as they pick it up. We all need exercise and fresh air, our pets included.

Am anxious to hear only from those that use the above as a common practice. If you do not have anything nice to say with a logical explanation, please do not post. My understanding is that the postal center is for a place to pick up your mail, socialize with neighbors and enjoy the amenities adjacent such as shuffleboard etc. They are amenities provided and paid for by the residents, they are not dog parks.
Thank you.

Well there you go....................Lots of good answers.

Do you live south of 44? I do and I go to the Willow Tree mail station every day and there are no such signs there, never have been. I just got back from driving to 5 mail stations in Fenney, De Soto, McClure, and Monarch Grove, there are NO signs there like you describe. I did not drive to Marsh Bend as this was a fool's errand. Who told you there were signs?

I do not take my dog to the postal station but to the pool area in back of the pool and to the parking lot grass area way out side of the pool itself. If he relieves himself I pick it up. There are no signs. There are hundreds of places with no signs like anywhere on the side of the road. I then put my dog back on the cart and go get my mail. If you don't like this then go live some where else or get use to it .

It has been about a year since we were at Willow Tree. At that time, there was a sign showing that dogs were prohibited. I will drive by tomorrow to see if the sign is still there.

There is a sign at the McClure station but it is to the right where you would go in to play Bocce or Corn Toss I don't believe it applies to the sidewalk or the mail box area it is to keep them off the playing area.

OK, I could not resist driving down to Willow Tree to get a picture of the sign. At the bottom of the sign, there is a drawing of a dog with a line through it.

C'mon that just means no dogs on leashes allowed!

This sign is at the entrance to the shuffleboard area. It also prohibits bicyclists, golf carts, and smoking. Does not pertain to the postal station. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to drive your cart or bicycle there to pick up your mail.

I guess we need a person of authority to decide that.
