If you find my post Of my personal experience incorrect you must be hiding in my garage.
The streets were driveable and walkable and bicycleable. You could've taken the golf cart to the parking lot closest to the gate, and then walked across the street to the supermarket.

I too want to be prepared for the zombie apocalypse and I'll want to advertise it to all of ToTV but I sure don't want to be accused of hoarding.
A Zombie Apocalypse requires an entirely different subset of materials...

While food, water and medications are important, THE most important item is ammo...

I shopped at that Walmart on Saturday. It was supposed to close until today for restocking but didn’t stay closed as ling as they anticipated. It’s about the fifth one in the state that “temporarily” closed.

Good grief! It's amazing how fearful one can get. Yes, I too remember Y2K and even when some folks were building bomb shelters back in the day. Two years ago we didn't hoard and always had just enough toilet paper. NOT sure how often folks "go" they need to stock up on 6 mo. worth. I guess we've always purchased the largest packages. As far as food...I've heard MRE's are terrible. IF the grid goes down we'll ALL be in trouble. Just how much "enough" is "enough"? Think about it..........

I have friends that go shopping virtually every day because they keep nothing in their pantries. I can't live like that. And I really don't understand people that probably have lived through the depression and don't keep at least peanut butter tuna fish canned vegetables in soup in their pantry even when they leave for 6 months, I guess people are too cheap to keep $50 worth of food in their home even when they leave

And others, scuba dive in rivers and lakes and are pulling up guns, mortars, pipe bombs and tons of other, littered, lost or stolen items. Now, I realize, since I'm also guilty of using that same trope, that it's a euphemism for "I've hidden them, it's my excuse du jour."

I'm just saying, don't be surprised if someone comes back at you "We dive that particular area regularly as well as magnet fish it. You'll need to do better than that .

"You may think that I am hoarding, but I am preemptively protecting and providing for my family if the need should arise." Just a fancy term for hoarding. This would not be necessary if everyone just purchased what they need like we do when we shop each week. Rapidly losing my faith in humanity generally, though there are certainly some good soles out there...which are not hoarders!

Hoarding is never an answer, but a problem to your neighbors and friends. It's a narcissistic selfish act to store items you don't need and others can use. It's doubly worse to encourage others to engage in the same behavior. STOP YOURSELVES!

It's called Prepping. There is absolutely no problem with someone being prepared. Even the leaders go on TV every hurricane season and tell folks to prep. Sorry, but if it comes to a choice between feeding family or feeding those that did not prep, common sense says most folks will feed their families. If you start prepping ahead of time, the economy will not even notice products missing off the shelves and will remain stocked.

It's not survival of the fittest, it's survival of the smartest. Don't rely on others to pity you and share their rations when you do not think ahead. Communism only works on the conquered and enslaved. If you think that the community is going to force rationing of privately owned supplies, better get "prepped" for a fight.

That said, I do not believe the panic over an extended pandemic. Hospitals are filling up because many folks that put off surgery last year are now opting to get worked on now. Yes, infections may be up but deaths are not significantly increasing YET. A week long surge does not mean a trend. Panic at your own peril.

Good way to start a panic. Now we know who caused it.
