They are both beautiful and will shelter you against the heat and the alligators and the geckos. You can be equally as happy in either or as miserable as you like. The key is living under your income and with your glass half full.

I don't even know anyone who could AFFORD a house like that, much less be able to buy it myself. Like the man said, if I had that kind of loot, I'd be looking at several things to but, not just a house. But I guess if someone can afford that house, they have plenty of other money to spend it on things they like.

Why should everyone want the same wood/color cabinetry as what most of us already had--custom crafted--up north!?!

The Stock Market is in a bubble caused by low interest rates and Quantitative Easing. Previous generations stashed their money in Real Estate.

I do not like this tone of bashing people rich enought to buy it. Saw a clip on a $38M house in Boca Rotan which had a Star Trek themed theater and memorimilla, hence my DVR recorded it as Star Trek related. $0K square feet, selling because they want a bigger one. I think they hope when Market crashes as it will, their house will keep its value. an educated gamble either way.

BTW we have Cherry cabinets.

People need to know how to protect their money.

What one pays for or wants in a house is not my business.
We have the same amenities and privileges as anyone else.
Lucky for me, I know my budget won't stretch to 1.7 million.
I'm a happy cabin my CYV with granite and white cabinets.

Me, too.

When we used to look at large homes that were/are out of our price range, we would look at each other and say it would cost too much to heat and cool all that square footage, so we won't but it.

A big house is a real pain--constantly being married to the house, cleaners, maintenance, paint, and having rooms for guests that never show up we had an indoor pool in NC--the chemistry act drove me nuts--keeping it the way my wife wanted

For some people a big house is a smart investment--in the right community your house can double in value in less than 10years.
