Self insure just means that you don't have any insurance. If something goes wrong, you just pay for it out-of-pocket.

It seems that all homeowners insurance is going up in every state not just Florida.

My insurance with Travelers on new house started last May @ $777 for the year... included sinkholes but not flood. Yeah that may be going up.

Unless you have really deep pockets you still need liability coverage.

What about the Florida law where I am supposed to get $500 for every telemarketing phone call? I still don't know how to collect the money. I think I am owed over a million dollars so far. When is the state going to tell us how to collect it?

105% Increase, for NO changes in coverage, and NO claims. Yes, TOTAL SHOCKER!!
No doubt hurricanes have affected this!
Is this what has been happening to Home Owners Ins. in T.V. and or all FL??
What have others experienced for rate changes??
Thanks for your replies.
We have Progressive too. With no claims at all we went from $1172.00 in 2022 to $3165.00 in 2023 with a new roof that we paid for. We can thank all the roof scams for the increase.

That is a great rate. Our 2/2, 2.5 yr old, 1300 sq ft patio villa just went up to $1600 with progressive, no claims and we also live south of 44. No flood plain.

If you don't have a mortgage the insurance outfit has to offer you coverage WITHOUT windstorm risk coverage. Mine went from $7500 down to $1100. $490,000 home. This is part of the 2022 state changes.

I'll take it. But, how are they going to find out who called me? The law, enacted in 2021, is a stupid law. Google it.

I am not understanding why the rates would be so different? Our auto and golf cart are also through them? Is your bill aggregated or just home? I guess I should be happy I’m under 1000 a year. Our house is block construction? Does that make a difference?
