We shopped at Walmart on 466 yesterday at 11 AM and it was easy getting through the aisles and no wait at the cash register. Prices were not bad either.

I love shopping at Sweet Bay and also find some of the prices lower than
Publix or Walmarts. Example: Essential cream cheese is only 94 cents
versus almost $ 2.00 at Walmart for Great Value.
I feel like I can take my time shopping at Sweet Bay.

It will serve the folks who live off Buena Vista, but probably not those who live near Morse. Stores have to wait for their customer base to develop to turn a profit. Our Walgreens folks told me theirs is the busiest in TV, and I believe it. I just get my "rain check" for any sale items and get them the following week. No big deal. I let workmen who are coming in to buy their lunch at Publix go ahead of me. They are on a time clock, and I remember when I had to hurry through a hasty lunch to get to the next meeting, etc. I love retirement!
From what I got its going to be out on 466a about 3 miles from the current publix. Probably to draw wildwood shoppers too.

Someone is gonna deck somone one of these days at the deli part of Publix.

Sometimes, it ain't pretty.
I was in the Publix yesterday, and though I did not witness that incident, I did just get a pushy feel, all around the store....oh well, I can put up with that. It's soooooo much nicer than where I came from.

BTW, I was in Plant City this past weekend, for the Strawberry Festival. For those who don't know, Plant City is the home of Publix. We rode through the middle of the Publix area, several blocks on both sides of the road. The proprietor of our bed and breakfast was telling us she used to be a truck driver and often picked up produce in California. She said Publix, without a doubt, ALWAYS insisted on only the freshest, best packed, produce. I liked hearing that.

We've shopped the Publix at Southern Trace and even the one out by the hospital (can't remember what that shopping center is called). BOTH were much easier to shop thru, though they're laid out differently so it's a challenge to get a "lay of the land". We live closer to 466a but that one is way too small for the number of folks who shop there. Rudeness abounds as well....though I understand folks are in a "zone" many times trying to think about their shopping experience.

Was told by an employee to shop at the 466a facility before 10 (now I'd say 9) and after 5 pm.

I've never shopped at Publix's deli, so I'm not aware of their system, or if they have one. Do they not use a number system? Fresh Market uses a number system at their meat department, and it makes everything so much easier. I'm not sure what they do at ther deli--never shopped that dept. either.

You can even play numbers roulette with yourself and go off and do some shopping elsewhere in the store until you think your number is getting close.

Publix does use a number system. They have cold packages foods in open, self-serve, cases on other side of the aisle from the deli counter, so even people who are not needing deli service are pushing their carts down that aisle. It gets very congested!

Fresh Market deli does not have a number system. They are pretty good at keeping up with it. I seldom see them using the number system (though they do have it) in the meat section. They are all so nice, and fast, it just seems to flow OK.

It's only the little dogs. It falls through the cart grate.

I go to Fresh Market on Saturdays to get their specials. Their meat department is mobbed in the afternoon, and they do use the number system. It works very well, and I can't imagine why everyone doesn't use the number system. It eliminates stress.

Why can't the Developer clear up the concern and let us know where and when a new large grocery store will reduce the congestion at the 466A Publix?

I am sure that will happen when a new large grocery store commits to open.

The developer can offer the site and can build a building but can't make a business commit to open.

You did read that Sweetbay is building right now just west of Buena Vista on 466A?

Walmart is five miles East of Publix Colony down 466A near the intersection of 441/27.

jasper1963 - maybe you could contact the district gov office and ask if they have that info...or you could try calling the corp office of publix, Winn-Dixie and sweet bay to ask of their intentions...and then let us know what you find out?

gracie's info is good info. if you need assistance in using one of those locations, pm me and I will do what I can to get you to either of those locations. whole foods is also in that same area.
