I just had a 52inch repaired and while the repair man was here he told me the biggest problem with wall mounted TV...especially high ones, are that they become inaccessible for only ONE TV repair person to handle. Can you imagine one person tackling a 50+ inch Wall mounted TV in the corner of a room. Just something to consider...and repairs (or recalls) do happen.

Jimbo, surely you are not advising potential Villagers having homes built to just get into their unfinished home and start stringing wires or cables are you?

You're not kidding....wow! Hopefully if this discussion is to continue, we can start a new thread since the particular topic of this thread is wall mounted televisions.

Guest bedrooms (which are usually smaller) definitly are rooms to plan for wall mount. Helps for furniture

Personally I think wall mounted TVs can be very institutional looking- like a doctor's reception area or a sports bar. I prefer the warmth of a nice entertainment center (not just a stand) with books, a few personal items, and a plant or two. More of a homey feeling IMHO.

I tend to agree for a living room to have a credenza type TV and not a wall mount. I think wall mount is more suitable for a bedroom. IMHO

Whatever works as it is a matter of personal taste.

You can also use special screen paint on the wall and use a projector as they do in home theaters

Make sure your location for the wall mounting bracket is not on a wall where there is a pocket door. That would not work very well.

We had our wall mount installed for a very reasonable price, $75 I think. That included the wall mount and installing an electrical receptacle and a cable connection behind the TV.
