Head north where the shopping, restaurants, home stores, medical facilities, gas stations, banks, libraries, etc., etc. are located.

We live in the Southern part of Fenney. We have been here since 2018. Like a previous poster stated, it sounds and feels like a large truck going by. We do not get notified in advance but it is appx 15 times a year. In my previous home I lived by a train yard and when the trains coupled together, it created a sound and shake greater than anything I have experienced here.
Every Village is great and in my experience you cannot go wrong in Fenney. It has its own amazing charm. Good luck in your search and hope to call you neighbor soon.

The blasting and prison noise is a myth. I have never heard a blast or a prison siren

And old homes needing roofs and new HVAC systems, crowds, and lots of traffic.

I'm not in Fenney but on the other side near the turnpike and people have complained about that noise. I'm used to a little noise as I used to live near the airport in Vegas and the occasional plane would sometimes fly over our unit. I remember one flew close enough to my place that when I was walking to the kitchen a stewardess asked me to sit down.

Thanks for the responses. Interesting that experiences range from not hearing anything to what sounds like a sonic boom. I think we're going to pass on this one. I'm risk averse.

Fenney is gorgeous! We don’t live there so can’t speak about quarry blasts, but every time we go there to eat at Fenney Grill, or walk the nature trail, or do an activity at the gorgeous regional rec center I tell my hubs I’d move there in a heartbeat if the perfect opportunity presented itself. Thankfully we can be there in 5 minutes by car and 20 by cart (lovely ride too), so we can still enjoy it often. The Village of DeSoto next door to Fenney is awesome too. Best of luck to you!

I stopped counting after eight posts saying 'head north'. But keep trying. You just might convince someone that the older areas are better than the newer ones.

By the way - We all have cars and can go to the shopping, restaurants, home stores, medical facilities, gas stations, banks, libraries, etc., etc. Maybe you didn't know that.

No not really, only time we know when it’s there is when they do some blasting that will shake the house. As far as the prison goes haven’t heard any sirens or seen any one running around with striped uniforms 🤪

I live in Monarch Grove almost 4 years now, have never heard or felt a blast, have never heard anything from the Prison.

Agreed. We have everything we NEED right here without the TRAFFIC of the North. Magnolia Plaza…and we’re the only Village with its very own restaurant, Fenney Bar & Grill. We’re in Hammock @ Fenney and hear/feel nothing…except the train…which we love. Reminds us that we still live in the somewhat rural South.

Don’t be…there is NO risk. It’s probably THE most quiet Village you’ll find. Truly. The supposed issues aren’t issues at all. We once lived next to a REAL quarry. I slight “boom” once a month, depending on where you live, is nothing! Check my other response.

Given the fact that you are concerned enough to inquire is reason enough to not buy there. Especially when there are so many homes available without potential noise pollution. Remember, when you go to sell, some potential buyers will have the same concern you have and decide to look elsewhere. Noise concerns will impact the size of the buyer pool and sale price of your house. I, for one, would not consider the purchase.
