We all paid to leave, and had been sitting together by the stage, I think there were eight of us and we walked toward the door and in so doing we walked between two tables, not slithered but walked single file. After three or four of us passed a man seated at the table with a woman, angrily jerked out a chair and blocked our little single file exodus. I pushed the chair back in and leaned over and quietly said in his ear. "That wasn't nice". and he pulled it out again almost hitting me with it and said loudly or yelled and waved his arms... I think he said. "I am trying to eat my breakfast", but others in the group said it wasn't that nice.

In my whole life this was a new experience.
Proving once again that sage comment "Stupid is as stupid does." Some people just don't get it, and let the slightest thing upset them. Good for you for keeping your cool, Gracie, but we would all expect it from you anyway.

When you're 6-6 and weigh 260 you don't get many chairs pulled out on you. I'm a loveable guy and don't mean to scare people sometimes. I probably would have picked up the chair and taken it to the front door with me . . . . . after one of those terrifying mean looks . . . . .

Some people get "Cranky" when they get old. The rest of us "Lighten Up".

Gracie - I once witnessed a similar situation with a slightly different outcome.

My family was very connected to the Chicago Outfit and about every other Sunday we went to dinner with Lenny Patrick (google him - an interesting guy). We would meet at DeLeo's - an Outfit owned joint. I think I was 10 or 11 years old when this happened.

My grandmother was a large woman and when we were leaving after our meal she upset some guy at his table. He made a nasty comment about my grandmother's size and how it upset his dinner.

Lenny was right behind Nana and heard the rude comment.

I was behind Lenny when he leaned next to the offended diner and with a slight smile said, "Let me help you with your meal." Then, very quickly grabbed the guy by the back of his head and slammed it..4 or 5 times into his plate...very hard - very fast - and very final. Then with pasta and sauce covering this guys face, Lenny leaned back over and whispered, "I hope that helped."

As we were walking out, the guy stood up and yelled, "Someone call the police" (I guess he didn't know this was an Outfit joint). The host, owner and 2 bus boys picked the guy up like a sack of dirty laundry and threw him out on the street.

As we were driving away, Lenny rolled down the window and gave him a Queen Elizabeth wave...then laughed --very hard and very loud.

My Papa, before our dinners, would whisper to me - "Gary, be good - be quiet - tonight we are eating with a killer." I thought Papa was just kidding. After that night, I knew he wasn't kidding.

This was the beginning of a long history with Lenny - who for some reason, took a liking to me. Given this history, I was amazed when I got a government security clearance...but, that's the government for ya.

Lenny - an incredible guy...and one never to cross.

My wise father used to say, "Some people aren't happy unless they are miseable".
He was right.

There are dirtbags everywhere, even in TV. It's a shame that he made such a gentle, classy lady the object of his anger. Gracie, I'm truly sorry this happened to you.

People have to know that when they sit in an isle seat, you are going to have people pass by you and maybe bump your chair. When eat out, I always ask for a table out of the isle so I don't have to have my chair bumped during a meal. It does get annoying but I would suggest that he should have asked to be moved out of the way. It seems this man was less tolerant of his chair being hit.

Obviously, he was not raised to know proper manners. Instead of being a cad, he should have been a gentleman and stood up to allow you to pass. He is a prime example of one of those folks that should have a "Stupid" sign hanging from his neck.
