I realize dogs need to be walked for excercise and maybe just to get them out of the house
so they can do their pooping. A reasonable request to dog owners!! Take your dog outside and walk your dog around your yard, front yard, back yard, side yard where ever you like on your property until the dog poops. After the dog is done pooping make sure you pick up the poop and then take your dog for a walk on YOUR BLOCK. Recently I noticed a owner who lives in the Village of Ashland on Haretison Ave walk his medium to large dog several houses down his block and make a turn onto Crawford Court walk several houses down and now his dog is pooping on my neighbors lawn. I mean really don't you feel bad your walking your dog and your dog is pooping on other peoples property. Why not allow your dog to poop on your next door neighbors lawn or the people that live accross the street from you. Please don't walk your dog 2 blocks away from your house and allow your dog to poop on someone elses lawn. We the Homeowners, Your Neighbors who live in The Villages pay to maintain our lawns. Watering, Cutting, fertilzing, etc. etc. just like you do. We really don't want your dog pooping on our lawns. THIS MESSAGE GOES OUT TO ALL DOG OWNERS. Like I said earlier WAlK YOUR DOG ON YOUR PROPERTY TO DO IT'S POOPING!!!! NOT YOUR NEIGHBORS LAWN!!! Thank You in Advance. |

Walk your dog on YOUR property is a very reasonable request, but there is a good chance that NONE of the people in your Village who are walking their dogs, read TOTV. Try making a sign and put it out on your front yard and hope that Community Watch leaves it there.

This has been a long standing thread. Those who don’t want someone else’s dog on their lawn, even if they own a dog.
Those who own dogs, feel they have rights to walk their dog on your easement, because one doesn’t own it. One has to mow, weed, fertilize that easement, but it does not belong to you. This post results will always be the same. I can walk my dog on your lawn, and I don’t care what you think. Neither urine or feces will harm your lawn. While we are up north, our corner lot, we have neighbors who park their car, that leaks oil, in our driveway. Two neighbors who walks their dogs from their lawn across the street to our lot, instead of walking across the street to a mowed open area. None has permission, cameras clearly show them, and they deny its them, when they see their car, in our drive, or using our lawn as a dog park, along with the other 20 plus dogs that use our lawn everyday. When we return we pay hundreds of dollars to remove the oil, and our dog remains leashed, until deposits are clean up. Because just like any dog park, I don’t know what is in your dog’s waste. Sorry OP, your request will not be taken well

Your message is for the minority that do not do the right thing yet you want to emphasize ALL DOG OWNERS!!!! Sounds like an axe to grind. From one of the 95% plus of us dog owners that do what is right . __________________________________________ ![]() |

If an animal that walks and whatever else on a lawn recently treated with pesticides, herbicides, and/or fertilizers that are not necessarily animal friendly gets sick, or worse, due to absorption of chemicals through paws and skin it is on the owner of the animal not the home owner.

Community Watch will not remove any signs that are on private property. It is a violation of your deed restrictions. Community Standards might.

That is only your opinion… My opinion is that there is a reason for repeated dog poop threads, and is not just because of a few inconsiderate dog owners!

Dear neighbor and property owner.
Nice try with your very reasonable request. Sadly, most dog owners Think they are responsible and this request certainly could not apply to them since they "pick up" after their dog. That is, they "pick up" some of the urine or fecal matter their dog has deposited after the owners have allowed the dog to access your property for just this purpose. Dogs properly leashed can only go where it's owner allows it to go. If the dog is allowed to enter private property uninvited, then the owner is not a responsible owner. Another bit of (intentional?) misunderstanding is regarding easements. Many suffer the misunderstanding that 1, you don't own that part of your yard, 2, they can trespass on it with impunity. Wrong! The property is yours. You paid for it and you pay taxes on it and maintain it. An easement is a designated portion of your property that, when necessary, utility workers or public safety (think fire or police) may access if/when necessary. This does Not include dog walkers. Again, thank you for bringing this up again as it needs to be revisited due to the ongoing short term memory loss and misunderstanding of many of our, otherwise, nice neighbors. |

A home buyer's guide to easements and property rights | Trulia An easement - usage - is granted - ownership is not granted. I sincerely doubt that any property owner in the Villages has granted an easement to anyone with the express purpose of allowing their dog to use any part of the property as their 'rest' area. If I am not correct, I am sure someone with legal knowledge - not opinion - will come along and jump in.

True but dogs can harm grass. Would you like it if your grass was harmed by inconsiderate dog owners?
