So many of us maintain a beautiful neat and clean Village home site. A home you can be proud of. Feeling pleasure and satisfaction, knowing you're doing your part. So, what to do when you have a direct neighbor who fails to keep up their (part) home site ? With wild (36" +/- tall) grass growing up through the landscape shrubbery. Bare ground in what should be mulch areas. A five + year old house and a (dirt blackened) concrete walk and driveway, still waiting on their "first power wash". A lawn with more weeds than grass, due to lack of watering. Etc., etc.. Your thoughts please.

Your answer to "what to do" can be found here.

Turn them in to the powers that be.

I agree too. Since we will be part timers I would want to know if I was getting ripped off by the landscape company and that we need to schedule a visit to get the maintenance back under control. And if they're full timers they may not be aware of the standards or may be going through some difficulties that have distracted them.

Report them to community standards and if that doesn't work, offer to cut their grass, trim, weed and power wash their driveway, and then put your own house up for sale and move before it reverts back to it's slovenly appearance. Don't laugh. Homes sell quickly and moving is cheap here..

Have you been in your house the whole 5 years? Have the neighbors? Has the house/lawn always looked like this? Are the homeowners elderly? Perhaps one of them has been ill. I was very ill for two months this summer & my elderly mother was also in the hospital at the same time I was. When I got home from rehab I couldn't believe how bad the flower beds were. I tried & tried to get my lawn care company to do the weeds, etc; called another company, never called me back; finally called Choice Maintenance and they couldn't come until Sept 9. So don't jump to conclusions. If you're a good neighbor, talk to them before you "turn them in." They may just be clueless and need some guidance.

Have you noticed home watch person coming to the house. If they do have a home watch person obviously they're not doing their job. Owners may not know it. It happened to us and our neighbor contacted to tell us that our home was not being taken care of by our second homewatch. We then promptly fired. Then we hired Charlene the village sitter, and have had piece of mind ever since.
