First off you should check with your insurance not all insurance companies allows for it to be rented it will not cover any damage that your tenant causes you.
It depends on your policy. On another note we have search for golf cart insurance for Rentals and we cannot find it anywhere. If you can find a company that will insure a golf carts for a rental tenant please let me know. But we have not found any that best advice we got on the golf cart insurance has to have people supply their own homeowners insurance which should cover it. If there is damage done to it. And Not all landlords and tenants are sworn enemies. I have been a landlord for close to 30 years now and although I have made enemies yes in my tenants world I have also made friends and still know several of them to this day. And for your first question finding out a rental agreement I have google searched everything for all the free rental agreements only for them to want a credit card on file for a free rental application lol. And I don’t think any other rental company or management company will give you one for free. If so I would love to see a copy of that as well. I do have one that I did manage to get and I would be happy to send you a copy of it if you would like to see it. I truly do not know how legal it is in the state of Florida but it is a Florida rental agreement. And as others have said I’m here it is tough to rent to family and friends in case there is a issue. Best of luck and if you’d like to see a copy of my rental agreement please send me a message and I will forward you a copy of it. |

As far as I know the Tenant cannot get insurance because they do not own the Cart. The Owner can get a separate Liability policy for under $200 that will give the Owner some protection,

What limit of liability protection can you get for $200? Some people have such a low limit of liability coverage that, if they get sued, the insurance company will just pay the maximum limit and let you go to court on your own.

[tHe renter cannot insure property he/she does not own.QUOTE=villagetinker;2090537]I would make it a requirement for the renter to have golf cart insurance, or do not include access to the golf cart.[/QUOTE]

What's a "friendly rental agreement?" Renting out a house, or anything else for that matter, is a business and should be treated as a business. It protects the owner AND the renter. Sadly, the hand-shake day of dealing are long past.

When we first came here we rented. Golf cart came with the rental. The golf cart was on a separate agreement, in which we purchased it for a specified price, paid $1 down with the balance due at the end of the one year home rental agreement, but with the stipulation that we could return the cart and cancel the sale any time within that period. This way we “owned” the cart and were liable if we had an accident, or if we damaged the cart.

Check with your golf cart insurance company very carefully. Most of them will not cover your cart when it’s under a rental arrangement.
