I prefer permanent residents to renters, only because usually renters are here for a short time and then gone, never to be seen again.

Some renters are scouting homes. I know quite a few folks who bought after they rented a season or two.

How many times on this forum has the post “ high season wouldn’t be a problem if the renters, and snowbirds stayed away. Just food for thought. That first post will start in a week.

I do become a “Renter”, when some drive by door knocker stops by. They leave immediately soon as you say I am a renter.

We have never rented, 2 lifestyle visits, bought on the second trip.

We've had mostly great luck with our renters, most are like someone said, checking out the different neighborhoods before buying. I fact, my place just opened up for January and we'd love to get another nice renter into it, pm me if interested

We had one lifestyle visit and bought our "seasonal" villa on that trip. It is true what they say not to bring your checkbook with you or you just might buy something when you see this place. So true in our case. We had not planned on purchasing but we did. The Villages has to be seen to be believed. A few years later we sold the villa and purchased our forever home. LOVE it here.

How long is your lease? It may be time to start looking for another place to rent when your lease is up.

As cold as this may seem, many owners after withdrawing the initial information from a renter move on knowing to establish a true relationship with a renter is a waste of time since they will be gone once the weather changes.

We have moved four times here in the Villages. We have been happy with all of our neighbors but we found that we need to maintain a little distance from the neighbors who would show up at our door without calling first. We try to balance our social life between our neighbors and our personal friends.
As far as renters, we do not have any rentals in our immediate neighborhood but if we did I would be friendly with them, invite them to our block parties but unless we had a lot of the same interests I would just be friendly. Like one poster said they are here today and gone tomorrow.
