All driveways have expansion joints/cracks. Weeds grow in these joints and require frequent spraying to keep clean. To resolve this problem, clean the joints with a thin screwdriver or something similar, then apply CLEAR siliconized acrylic caulk into the joint. Requires 3 or 4 tubes to complete. Cut the tip small for inserting into the joint for application. The caulk dries clear and settles to the bottom of the joint. No weeds in two years so far.

Good idea. A little off topic, but I have concrete cracks that are going to be "repaired" before the driveway gets restained tomorrow. I wonder how the material used will be able to dry fast enough to be painted the next day. Fingers crossed...

Thanks for the tip. Now, how do I prevent dust from settling on my furniture?

If you have weeds that your beautiful solution doesn't solve then call Eric from Choice @ 352-502-2880 or 352-451-0888. They came out and charged me $60 for the initial weeding and then $12 per month to maintain it monthly. The guy who comes to your house is a weed-picking machine and his name is Jorge. He works so hard he is the kind of person you want to tip because he's so into his job. I think the world of Choice Maintenance. Everything they do is top-drawer. I was going to change the lawn mowing back over to them this year but we're moving somewhere else in The Villages.

Spray soil sterilizer twice a year, will take you about 20 minutes and it's cheap and easy.

Cheaper and easier yet. Salt. A box of table salt, costs about a buck, will do it. Distribute liberally. Wait a couple of days (a little moisture helps). Sweep up remnants with a stiff plastic broom.

Putting salt in soil prevents anything from growing there and it cannot be removed. Consider that before applying it in your soil or anywhere nearby.

OP, I did the same thing with a light grey 25 year silicone about 7 years ago, and had the same results.

Great idea! I can't get down on the ground to do that. I'm a tea drinker, never coffee. If I notice weeds in the cracks of my driveway, I boil a little extra water for my tea. While, my tea is brewing, I go outside and kill the weeds. I start at the bottom of the driveway, pour the hot water on the cracks and work my way up to the front door. I burn them to death.

Spraying vinegar also kills weeds. Note I do not know if adverse effect on painted driveways.
