Wink No Lines waiting for Covid Shots in the Villages

I heard The Villages Daily Sun, good news, newspaper is going to soon feature a story > No Lines for Covid shots in The Villages while the rest of Florida has extensive lines. It must be that our representatives are really on top of this and well organized. We watch the ABC/NBC nightly news most nights and the long lines of Seniors waiting for their shots is amazing. I wish there was a way to help them out and tell them to come to The Villages there are no lines!

Online vaccination signup for Sumter County? It opened at 8 am. Couldn’t enter the site until 8am sharp. I entered at 8. I wasn’t allowed to make a request until 8:06. I did, in seconds, then waited until 8:14, when I was informed that there are no more appointment times available. Alas. I knew it was too good to be true.

Governor Desantis is planning to have Publix administer shots and again he says our age group is next in line.

Here is what I hope; that we can fill out our forms and receive our shots somehow in a little tent in our local Publix Parking lot. We always get our seasonal flu shots at Publix, inside at the Pharmacy, but to me it seems safer with so many people having it outdoors somehow.

Maybe around the back with everyone in their cars single file.

I have the forms from online that question you as to your current state of health. Does anyone know if there are release forms to sign?

If they all show up here, there will be lines.

I'm going to wait until I learn that all essential workers who have tried to get the vaccine, have gotten the vaccine. I'm not putting a single person behind me in line, until I'm satisfied that there won't be ANY essential worker getting sick and possibly living with permanent lung damage, just because I chose to get vaccinated as soon as I was allowed.

More healthcare workers than you realize, are refusing the vaccine. Putting hospitals in a situation that they need to find others to vaccinate.

But I applaud your thoughts on allowing others to get the vaccine first. Biggest concern is, will they have the availability to give your second dose, in 30 days or have to fight for an appointment, and miss timeframe

And you will know that how? Give up your place in line and there will be thousands ready to step in, including snow birds and even folks from other States. And while you sit out, you increase your chances of getting infected.......but it is your choice.

I had COVID. It was less than 3 months ago. Don't you think I should give up my spot for someone who is compromised and needs the shot?

While I completely agree with OBB in theory you are absolutely right in practice. It was done wrong in this state because Governator Ronny D knows where his votes come from. Since the Gov ain't changing his plans I'll take mine as soon as I can (which is tomorrow between 10-11AM). It's a shame that the essential workers who should have it first won't but nothing will change that.
