Yes, i've seen carts left elsewhere in the lot....and i always considered that to be something aligned with folks that had some type of temporary physical condition (leg cramp, pulled muscle, etc.) that prevented them from being the good citizen that they usually are

it doesn't bother me...

Unless you're able to walk in the other person's moccasins...you'll never know why they chose to leave the cart
somewhere else

i try not to judge anymore.....

All the lazy people that don’t care where they put their cart or how it affects somebody else getting in and out of the parking spaces or getting their car scratched americans need to stop being so apathetic and have some common decency and do the right thing when no one’s watching. Return your cart, say please and thank you... Be kind to others.

I bring it back near the store. Usually the person near me leaves it behind my car or near my door.

Isn't it awesome, never a stray cart in the Aldi's lot. You can train humans for 25 cents.

Yes, nothing would surprise me, but as I see it by not returning them to the cart return ( storage) people are testing the stores!

a stakeout is required here to expose the real moriarty. My hunch is either a mild mannered eye glass wearing professorial type taking notes
or
a 007 lookalike carrying a dollar in each hand

At Aldies, it's not about the 25 cents. They don't have any place to return the cart, except to the store. They save money by reducing customer convenience. One reason that I don't shop there.

One of my pet peeves, too. Another one is people who just give their carts a push toward the cart area instead of walking a few more steps and stacking them. What low lifes. Inconsiderate. The guys who collect the carts aren’t amused, either. Cart collection is one of the costs that affect prices, albeit in a very minor way. I know a grocery store in Hackettstown, NJ that charges a quarter for a cart. If you return the cart, you get your quarter back. I’ll bet there are plenty of people here who would return a cart to save a quarter.

I do try and return the carts to the corral; however, I park in handicap and there are days when I’m in a lot of pain and can’t safely take it to the corral and walk back to my car. This brings me to the question why is there no return area next to handicap parking to leave the cart when finished shopping? I’ve gotten dirty looks from people that see I’m in handicap parking and leave my cart, yet no one ever offers to return it for me!!!! This is a valid issue for those of us that can’t always comply. It just doesn’t make sense to have handicap spots near the store yet have the return area near the end of the row!

The purpose of putting them in the "cart corral" is so they don't roll into your CAR and scratch or dent it when either it is windy or some "kind" person bumps into it with their bumper so they can have the parking space where you so thoughtlessly left it. When that happens, you won't be thanking all those "kind" people for leaving them in an empty parking space for you. They BELONG in the cart holder with the understanding that in some cases it isn't physically easyand there is little choice , but generally they are the exception. That's part of the reason PUBLIX offers to take your stuff out to your car and take the carriage away for you.
