Why are Snowbirds blamed for everything? How about the unfriendliness of people that live there year round.. I pay the same for amenities as do year round residents.. just don’t spend as much time there!

I would not be happy to pay more taxes and amenity fees.

And let's not forget all the crimes that occur when it's /not/ snowbird season. Most of it is likely theft/burglary (pretty easy to get away with if you are a snowbirder and don't rent your home out during the off-season).
There are plenty of traffic violations, including DUI/DWIs. Elder abuse, trespassing, fraud, operating without a license, etc. etc.

You can't blame all of that on snowbirds, during the off-season.

Crime always is higher here during the high season. Period. Amen.

Yep, it’s those pesky snow birds again. Full time residents would never do that.

Oh wait. You must be one of those folks who would be happy to pay double for your Amenity Fees and Taxes, as soon as you can figure out a way to displace all the part-time residents.
I can certainly understand the frustration of most home owners regarding vacation rentals.

I've found that cameras are the great equalizer. Have them in my car and golf car. I don't ever confront or escalate and give grace as we all make mistakes.

I had one idiot do something similar to the OP so I just posted a link to the entire episode to our village FB page and ask if anyone knew him. Two days latera woman contacted me after being alerted by several neighbors that the video of her husband were making the rounds. She apologized for him and asked me to take the video down. Shaming works for most of the population.

I yelled “WATCH OUT.” Looking back I said “be more careful around people.” The guy replied FU, the long version. That's all I said, and I made no other reply.

I continued on my journey to have the guy follow me for about two miles (roughly 9 minutes). Intimidating me? In Florida, that’s “Road Rage.”

Finally he passed, yelling something out the side of his golf cart (incomprehensible over the roar of his englne), but then after his one-finger salute out the back, I knew it was not an apology. Then noticed he was wearing headphones (another FL illegal).

This kind of behavior is way too common in The Villages, but this was the worst yet. Impatient golfers driving like maniacs way over the 20mph speed limit going to and from courses. Wreckless drunks seeing how close they can come to cyclists and walkers after happy hour at the clubs and music venues. Funny? not
(another FL law: minimum 3-feet of clearance between vehicle and cyclists and pedestrials - most states are 5)

I think in the least there should be identification on golf carts. Being anonymous brings out the worst in people with issues.
Carts, new bikers, and walkers can be unpredictable. I’ve ridden over 150,000 miles all over the country - enough to recognize that our MMP’s aren’t a very safe place to bike.

If the roads in TV make you nervous; Try bike trails off-the compound; we’re surrounded by beautiful ones: (no cars or golf carts)
North=Ocala/Santos trail, West=Inverness/Withlahoochi trail,
South=Mable/Van Fleet trail,
East = Winter Garden/West Orange trail.

Sorry to hear about your Run-in with a deranged individual. Sadly, I don’t foresee the situation getting any better for cyclists here.

Is this a common occurrence that I just haven't heard about?
Happens almost every day at my house. DW "shoots" a glance in my direction, and I thank my lucky stars that looks can't kill.

Maybe you were following the cart too closely, which is not smart.
A tight circle is a dot.
A postal kiosk is a place to buy postage stamps.
Where is it located? Your nearest post office.

You're welcome and I'm glad I could help.

I wish I could have gotten an ID on him.
Get a cheap personal camera. Next time you will have his picture and if he theaters you, file an assault report to have him arrested.
