Still three years seems like an extremely long time. Not to mention we drive along 27/441 weekly and have not seen any work being done for quite awhile

Perhaps they could focus on one road at a time. In one section of that road. Get one area done completely before moving on to the next section. Reduces overall congestion.
Don't start a new project on 44 until 441/27 is 100% done.

And if they worked 3 shifts a day it would be 1 year.
No reason to keep delaying traffic so long. Maybe it is Green and good for the environment to have cars waiting everywhere for 3 miles

Government contract job. Your tax dollars at work

Private company would have it done in 6 mos at much lower costs

Back up north they have to rebuild roads somewhere after almost EVERY winter! The roads that I traveled on in CT were always full of bumps and cracks. It's been a pleasure driving on the road surfaces here in FL for the past 12 years. I'm sure that a good portion of the taxes up north take that road reconstruction/repair into account - and is probably why our taxes down here are considerably lower.

I work for a public institution in Leesburg and asked the same question about 441. As a new citizen of the state, I was informed that Florida budgets for projects based on a section or phase and does not budget and secure funding for full projects. I was told that they will allocate enough money in a budget year and the work is performed until depleted.

This sounds like a completely ridiculous policy. I had several other locals who work for government confirm various aspects of this watered-down explanation.

Florida.

We haven't seen anyone working on this road for about a year.
Any thoughts?

Look how long RT4 is taking.

That plus there was a major slowdown due to the pandemic due to lack of workers for many reasons.

That is the heart of the problem. Months have gone by with no work being done. NONE! I thought at first it was a waiting period for permits or what ever it takes to proceed on a project such as this. But months with no work being done? That is just not normal.

And just who is accountable for the reality of the situation?
There has to be a person somewhere, probably an elected official, who can be asked why such an incompetent project is allowed to continue!

Landscaping of the median is now going on in Leesburg. We go down there once a week. In between Leesburg and TV they were laying/compacting when we drove through on 8/9
