That land on 44 next to Brownwood was graded and ready for something but that was 6 months ago. Maybe closer to build-out a small mall but nothing big I don't think.

This makes too much sense!

A mall is under construction @ Powell/44.
The land purchased across from Hanks B'Que on 466a is going to be $500,000+ homes...don't know about the doc thing.
Where on 466A is Hanks B'Que?

Can't imagine a mall going up on 44 when malls all over the US are struggling, closing stores and in some cases closing malls. I have a hard time thinking a mall is coming on 44. It's not even a major highway.

According to Wildwood Building dep't office, NO plans have been submitted for a mall. The north end of the lot @ Powell and 44 is being developed as villas included in the recently expanded District #10. IMHO, the current demographic does not support any large stores being built. There just aren't enough people. The big stores look for areas with a population in the millions to draw from. 100,000 is chump change, and the wrong age group.

Target is closing at the Leesburg Mall and the Mall itself is up for sale.

There's not a lot of sense in chasing down rumors--although we do have a lot of time for activities like that, and golf. When something like has been rumored here is going to happen, we'll have plenty of forewarning.

For me, I'm going to use that extra time pursuing other activities.
haha. that's why you didn't waste time reading this and posting a reply! me neither. I'm too busy having fun. ohoho!

and by the way, staff of the developer are among the last to know what is really happening...I got that not as a rumor.

Lynn is MIA, that's why I had to answer for her. Maybe Lynn knows Hank Burke who probably owns Burke's BBQ, hence Hank's B Que. Just another rumor, but as good as any rumors lately.

I Heard that Macy's would like to come to the Villages, but, the only way they would open a store if there was a mall connected to it... Mall sounds great, one time shopping..
