I'm so sad to read of Muncle's passing. I didn't know he was fighting cancer. I will miss his humor and his insight. I know he is in a better place. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family and friends.

Default M'uncle Bill, we'll miss you.

Here's how I remember Muncle. Fumar drew him out in a thread about "Nude picture alert," as only Fumar could.

Muncle made me laugh a lot, even when he was being cantankerous. He was a retired old fed with a clear outlook and a complete
lack of understanding how anybody could blame The Developer for everything. I seem to remember Muncle inviting some posters
to take the highway out of town, and with Muncle you knew, even if he didn't say it, that he meant to add "and be on that highway
by midnight."

Who would have ever thought a stranger on an internet forum could worm his way into our hearts like Muncle did?

Safe passage, old friend.

Many years ago, before it was the Adkins diet and was just the carbo-cal diet (mid 70's), I determined that my daily limit was about 55 carbo-cals. I soon discovered that Miller Lite (a fairly new invention at the time) had 28 carbo-cals per bottle. At the time I was a bartender/cook in a BBQ and had full access to the kitchen. So I figured I could eat all the meat I wanted (no C-Cs) and drink 20 bears a day. I was only able to follow this rugged regimen for a month, but lost 19 lbs.

But I digress. Fumar, I've lost a ton of weight (okay, .0375 of a ton), but the chemo and radiation ain't worth it, though I feel great now and am lighter than I've been since Basic Training.

Now, I've not been asked to participate in "The Men of TOTV" calendar nor would I expect to be. However, recently I drove my latest toy to LSL on a Tuesday evening and had a couple ladies stop me to take my picture. Hey, I'm humble enough to think maybe it was the cart, but who knows. Below is a shot of my self-indulgence.

PS, since the pic, I've shaved my beard. Never did before because I had more chins than a Chinese phone book. Now it's down to just a wattle. But Jan, Tony, & Co., if you do need me, I don't do nudes.

Tony.

Thank you for posting the picture. I wondered a lot how Muncle looked. I understand that Muncle was a nickname given to him by his nieces. Someone told me that he never married and had no children.

I have thought of him dozens of times since I heard of his passing. I can't recall ever hearing his real name and looked in todays obituaries and none fit him. It is wonderful and good that we can know and care about a person that we have never physically met. Dear Bill, You have been such an influence on us and such a part of our life here on Talk of the Villages. You are so missed.

Thank you again Tony.

Tony,

I think you are a mind reader. Last night, during a bout of insomnia, I thought of Muncle and remembered this picture that he posted. I planned to search for it this morning.

That is one of my favorite Muncle posts. I will also say how flattered I was that he (a well-read man in the W.F. Buckley mold) noted a few times that what I (a confirmed moderate) wrote made sense. But the big winner was his post where he talked of stealing Boomer away from Mr. Boomer.
