Default Golf cart stop and yield signs.

When a car stops to swipe their card and a golf cart comes to the stop sign at our gate entrances at the same time, shouldn't the golf cart stop and yield to the car? Why then do more than half of the golf carts drive right in front of the car? Soon we will be reading in the Daily Sun of a bad accident from this total disregard to basic traffic rules. In many instances the golf cart never stops for the sign let alone yield.

My observation so far at least, is that most carts do yeald as they should. As to why some don't, well... they would have to be the ones that answer that question.

Seriously - We all need to be careful when driving a vehicle/golf cart.

Then the issue gets compounded when a car driver insists on holding up traffic to wave some carts through. It's a nice gesture on the part of the driver but it can lead to confusion.

If I have already stopped my cart and the driver has to stop and swipe his card I will procede thru the intersection. But will always if there is any question yield to the car. I also don't like it when automobile drivers sit there and wave you across and most of the time you can't see them thru the tint or sun in the windshields.

Absolutely! I know folks are trying to be nice, but I've seen that situation get dangerous.

Default Cart deflectors

And then in our cart as we were coming to a stop at SeaBreeze here comes a cart going like scat.

Turns wide outta the parking lot and runs over the white lane divider. Wife hits the brakes and I found out why carts should have std shoulder harness.

My nose bouncing off the plexiglass

This guy almost hits us head on? It can be dangerous out there?

Sadly, it sounds like "Joie Chitwoods" days are numbered. I just hope no one gets hurt in the mean time.

It's getting out of hand and I'll just sit there until they get the message.

If a car is coming up to the gate to swipe I'll time it so I can either safely get through or wait...it's all timing...

You are right as usual. We all must ignore the polite drivers waving us through and continue to wait until they move on. It encourages other golf cart drivers to think that is the correct way, and makes it all worse.

I have just spent a week driving routes 95 and 128 in Massachusetts. I cannot wait to get back to TV and have to deal with all the dangerous cart situations .

Everyone knows that there are no rules of the road for golf carts. Do whatever you want, drive whatever speed you want, don't stop at stop signs or yield at yield signs, and assume everyone can see you and will get out of your way.

When we come to a stop at a gate in our cart, we just don't make eye contact with the car driver. That basically gives them permission to proceed.

It's better than the "you go"..."no, you go"...scenario.

It works for us!
