..... Back to the discussion of whether to use the Visitors Lane at busy gates, or move to Orlando. ![]()

If you move to Orlando we will all miss you and yes you can use the visitor gates. When I do, I always tell the gate guard good (time of day) greeting.

For those who have posted about getting wet when it is raining and having to replace window motors because they roll their driver's side window down so many times all while going through the security gate, I offer this:
Keep your window rolled up and merely hold your gate card right up to the driver's window as you approach the "sensor" and guest what? The gate will open without your having to roll the window down. Works for me. Don't know why everyone doesn't do the same. Merely an observation on my part.

OK everybody! Let's settle this for once and for all.
Everybody feel free to use the visitors gate anytime you want. If anybody says anything to you about it, just tell them that I said it was OK for you to use it. You can also tell them to see me if they have a problem with that and they can find me in The Village of Whoopdedo. ![]()

I use the gates (primarily on Morse) several times each day and 7 days a week(at least 30-35 weekly). Holding my gate card up to the window without having to roll it down has worked 100% of the time for me. Can't understand why it doesn't work for everyone??

I remember someone on here explaining how gates with cameras have more trouble sensing our cards. I would presume that the need for rolling or not rolling windows may depend somewhat on which gate you use as well as the makeup of the side window of ones car. i.e. are some windows tinted and if so to what degree?

I think this has a lot to do with it. I didn't have to roll down the window on my old car, but I do with my new one. I suspect it is due to the tinting.

Aren't the cards proximity cards...ie. magnetic ?? What would window tinting have to do with that ?

I know I'm a little irked by someone in front of me who taking extended seconds to get the gate to open. Maybe now I know why. Which is why if I see more than a couple of cars there I veer to the visitor gate.

Don't know if it's true, but I've heard from a reliable source, that these upgraded cards work by sending a stronger signal through windows. They also allow you to go past stop signs without stopping, make turns without signaling, leave doggie doo for others to pick up and to not repair ball marks on greens. |
