But, the price of the next home has also gone up in price. All of these people can't be doing the same thing.

I've been very civil in my responses regarding the north vs south debates but I just had to let you know how I really feel.
It's ironic that the south has a prison and the north has the crime maybe that's why you feel threatened. Grannies loves their 40 something grandkids living with them up north even if they do forge her checks and pawn her jewelry.

I've already made my point. I don't feel threatened in the slightest.

Yup... It's only the people in the north who disparage those living south of 44...

No one south of 44 would EVER stoop so low as to do the opposite...

Wait, what?

Looks like you're only proving the point I made almost 100 posts ago... (see post #44...)

Well thanks for being the arbiter of this thread. While I agree the opinionated comments go both ways, I have to say the overwhelming negative comments come from those north of 466. I don’t begrudge anyone living north of 44 but many that do feel the necessity to point out the error of those that decided to buy south.

I like my home, area, neighbors and the convenience to shopping, golf, etc., and wouldn't dream of moving. But to each their own and good luck at Middleton.
Our first home in TV was a PV, for vaca purpose only. Second home we bought purely for a long term rental. Third home we bought when one of us retired, is preowned designer, with golf cart garage, that no long fits our needs.

Moving is not a big deal for us, but a home that fits our needs is a must. No attachment to any homes in TV, or driving to Orlando or Tampa to shop. Most of our friends are scattered all over TV, from the different villages we have owned in, not just our immediate neighborhood.

Our parents are like you, they will go out feet first from their first home. Change is not in their wheelhouse.

I must say, the barbs being thrown back and forth between those defending their choices and insulting others for theirs reminds me of elementary school.

Get used to it. Unfortunately, the entire site is that way now.

Yes. It started when the first home was sold south of 44 well over 5 years ago now. Prior to that it was mostly bashing the developers for some reason.

Not sure why some continue to spout an agenda that the facts don't support , but once again, WRONG.

The responses on this thread are very disappointing and juvenile - as a new resident in the next few months, and recent retiree at age 60 - I have always vowed not to be “that type” of older person - cantankerous, over-opiniated, spiteful, disparaging of other people’s happiness and opinions. I sure hope this is not what this site is, otherwise I will stay clear of it when I move to TV. I actually feel sorry for the negative people who spew venom at others - they are obviously very miserable people.

In 2010, when we bought in Pennacamp, weekly on this site, (our post for recommendations for contractors) posters loudly told us

We were stupid to move there, it will take you 10 minutes to get to a grocery, or LSL (minimal stores open then)

25 minutes to drive to SS and KB’s, because that’s where all the shopping and restaurants are

You are surrounded by neighborhoods that don’t belong to TV, the crime rate will be horrendous and You should fear living in a house at the Ends Of the Earth.

You will never sell your house, will lose your entire saving for buying in such an unstable neighborhood.

So the bashing has been ongoing long before 44, and posters were just as ugly and bullying in 2010 as they are now.

Well, thanks for being the scorekeeper of this thread...

Did you actually do a statistical analysis of the responses, or are you just guessing?

There you go, there are a lot more homes within Wildwood north of 44 than south of 44. Wildwood extends all the way up to Oxford, a huge community. So you add the northern share of Wildwood crime with Lady Lake and Fruitland Park and you'll find that most crimes are up north, even downtown Wildwood is north of 44.. All the drug arrests, fights, Drunks, etc., within the squares are north of 44. Come to think of it almost everything bad that happens in and around The Villages is north of 44. Once again, wrong facts.
