Exactly. I totally agree that people have different preferences. That’s why I don’t get people who live north of 44 feel the need to opine on their dislike of south of 44. We purposely chose south because of the outdoor options and lack of congestion. We looked at resales in the north but it didn’t suit our needs. We hate box stores and avoid them when possible but that doesn’t mean we criticize those that frequent them.

I was sold on the beauty of The Villages with all the plentiful gorgeous plantings and those lovely corners with the waterfalls. The plantings of flowers south of 44 do not compare to what there is north of 44. Believe me, I have looked and it is not the same as what we have north of 44.

I've been very civil in my responses regarding the north vs south debates but I just had to let you know how I really feel.

” My house is in a village that is far superior to yours”… and how stupid were you to buy elsewhere.
One can live anywhere in TV, but only the small minded point out the statement above. Maybe it’s the age factor, or upbringing, or the summer heat.

We play golf everywhere in TV, since 07, from tip of the north to where the south has completed courses. I play 7 days a week, so have met wonderful people all over TV.
Many of the older residents in the north, stay very close to their home base, some have no idea where Southern Oaks is. Would never travel to LSL, or play at Havana, “it’s just too far. The expansion doesn’t seem to bother them, and are happy people can buy a home and enjoy TV. Rarely travel outside the bubble. Rarely shop online. Love where they live, In our area of LSL, yes one can find shopping, within minutes, but playing golf with many from the area, they will somewhat go outside their circle, but many don’t play golf in the most northern or southern reaches. Some seem to shop and play golf very close to home. Brick and mortar is very important to have within 5-10 minutes. In their buying days we’re told this was the end of TV, some very unhappy with the continued growth and “overcrowding”. “Those” people by the turnpike come to our area and make it impossible to shop or play golf. Will defend their territory, and let others know what a mistake it was to buy south. Can’t tell you how many people openly called us idiots for buying new build in Pennacamp, in 2010 Then there are the newer residents, and residents who have left the SS and LSL areas to move south. Yes there is the prison, (how often to you here residents who actually live there have bad comments). Or the mine blasts(that subject only comes up from those who live elsewhere, with hearsay or zero experience). Many rumors were started by agents who couldn't sell new, so that wasn't a relevant source Many have come from high traffic towns, or airports, and turnpike humming they are used to. They travel everywhere, many don’t mind taking 15 minutes to grocery or shopping. They enjoy outside the bubble, walking and the picturesque paths, without dealing with cars, and carts. Many are younger in age, some working, and enjoying all that TV has to offer. They have to defend why they live there. (Just like we did in the new Pennacamp area). Once the newer Middleton is built the bashing will continue, from residents who just need to defend where they live, and why you have chosen poorly. I have never understood why one with no experience in someone else’s Village is so negative about the area. It’s only hearsay for them, so why spend so much time being so negative or as the younger gens experience “ bullying“. We can’t wait for the newer areas, and plan to move again as Middleton area become available. Because we Enjoy change, and new places, and not afraid to drive more than 15 minutes ![]() Last edited by thelegges; 08-22-2022 at 06:16 AM. |

thelegges, I admire your spirit of embracing change and new horizons, but to move for the sake of these things, just shocks my sensibilities. Especially since you will be staying in TV.
I like my home, area, neighbors and the convenience to shopping, golf, etc., and wouldn't dream of moving. But to each their own and good luck at Middleton. |

The new house syndrome sometimes clouds the "location, location, location" saying.
